The Department of Nuclear Safety and Security (NS) formulates and implements the IAEA's nuclear safety and security programme, which encompasses the IAEA's activities to protect people and the environment from radiation exposure, and responds to the needs of its Member States related to nuclear safety and nuclear security.
Main Purpose
Reporting to the Departmental Administrative Officer in ODDG-NS, the consultant will support financial monitoring, forecasting, expenditure review and management reporting.
The consultancy is needed to improve budget accuracy and support evidence-based decision-making through practical dashboards, tracking tools and AI-supported working methods.
The work will help staff review financial data, identify variances, streamline follow-up actions and prepare timely management insights.
Functions / Key Results Expected
1. Financial monitoring dashboard covering budget allocation, expenditures, commitments, forecasts, available balances, implementation rates and key variance indicators.
2. Forecasting and expenditure review tool comparing planned, forecast and actual expenditures, with follow-up actions identified.
3. Periodic financial reporting template, AI-supported prompt library, SharePoint-based tracking structure or prototype, and short handover note/user guide.
4. Mapping and streamlining of Administrative processes.
Qualifications and Experience
- University degree in business administration, accounting, finance, information management, data analytics or a closely related field. A profile combining finance, data analysis and digital tools would be an asset.
- Relevant experience in collecting, analysing, validating and reporting financial, budgetary or statistical data, including forecasting, expenditure monitoring and variance analysis.
- Excellent computer skills for data analysis, dashboards, reporting, graphs and document preparation, including Excel, Power BI or equivalent tools; knowledge of ERP applications such as Oracle would be an asset.
- Knowledge of results-based management, digital transformation approaches, AI-supported productivity tools and SharePoint or similar collaboration platforms, with sound numerical, analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent command of oral and written English. Knowledge of other official IAEA languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Spanish and Russian) an asset.
Remuneration
The remuneration for this consultancy is a daily fee of up to a maximum of € 200, based on qualifications and experience. In case duty travel is required within the assignment, a daily subsistence allowance (DSA) and travel costs are provided. Health coverage and pension fund are the responsibility of the incumbent.
