Key Activities & Responsibilities:
Financial Accounting
- Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close.
- Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and balance sheet accounts.
- Ensure compliance with German GAAP and IFRS (where applicable).
- Assist with statutory financial statements and external audits.
- Support accounting process improvements and internal controls.
- Collaborate closely with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Treasury, and General
Ledger teams and Business partners of each University.
Controlling & Financial Analysis
- Support the annual budgeting and forecasting process.
- Prepare monthly management reports and financial analyses.
- Perform actual vs. budget and forecast variance analyses.
- Monitor departmental costs and financial performance.
- Develop financial models and ad hoc analyses to support management decisions.
- Assist in KPI reporting and performance monitoring.
- Support business cases and investment analyses
Business Partnering
- Work with department managers to understand financial performance.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support decision-making.
- Assist with cost optimization initiatives and financial planning activities.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve finance processes and reporting.
- Support finance transformation initiatives and system enhancements.
- Contribute to the development of standardized reporting and documentation
Your profile
Education
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
Experience
- 1–3 years of experience in external audit with a recognized audit firm (preferred).
- Experience in financial accounting and financial reporting.
- Exposure to budgeting, forecasting, or controlling is an advantage.
- Experience in an international environment is desirable.
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of accounting principles.
- Knowledge of German GAAP (HGB). Knowledge of IFRS is an advantage.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g. Unit 4, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) is an advantage.
- Experience with Power BI or similar reporting tools is a plus.
Languages
- Good working proficiency, both written and spoken, to collaborate in an international environment.
- Good working proficiency is preferred
