Northland Controls is seeking an experienced Application Engineer II to join our Professional Services team in Germany.
In this role, you will support the successful delivery of complex physical security integration projects for one of our largest global customers. You will work across the full project lifecycle, configuring, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting enterprise security systems while partnering closely with customers, field technicians, and global project teams.

What You’ll Do
- Support engineering activities throughout the full integration project lifecycle, from initial planning through commissioning and handover.
- Install, configure, test, commission, and troubleshoot enterprise access control, alarm, and video management systems.
- Configure and support physical security hardware, including card readers, access control panels, alarm devices, CCTV cameras, and Network Video Recorders.
- Integrate physical security platforms with customer infrastructure, networks, databases, and enterprise environments.
- Work directly with customers and project teams to understand system requirements and recommend appropriate technical solutions.
- Attend customer and project meetings to support planning, implementation, testing, and issue resolution.
- Diagnose and resolve complex hardware, software, system, and network-related issues.
- Train field technicians and end users on installed systems and applications.
- Create, maintain, and update system architecture, configuration, testing, and project documentation.
- Support system incidents and technical emergencies when required.
- Ensure work is completed in accordance with customer requirements, company standards, and Health and Safety expectations.
- Contribute to additional engineering initiatives and projects as assigned.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent technical and industry experience.
- At least five years of experience working with enterprise physical security systems.
- At least five years of experience with Windows Server or Windows Systems Administration.
- Current Software House C•CURE 9000 and/or Genetec certification.
- Strong knowledge of access control, video management, alarm, low-voltage, and related physical security technologies.
- Experience configuring, commissioning, and troubleshooting enterprise security platforms.
- Working knowledge of system databases, networks, servers, and related infrastructure.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and technical problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a customer-focused approach.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced project environment.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multicultural and global teams.
- A valid driving licence and willingness to travel regionally or internationally based on project requirements.
- Experience supporting large-scale or global security integration projects is highly desirable.
