Senior AI Governance Professional
Help shape how AI is governed in clinical development – at the intersection of cutting-edge technology, regulatory strategy, and patient safety. This is your chance to define the rules of engagement for AI in one of the most exciting and fast-moving spaces in pharma.
Your new role
As a Senior AI Governance Professional, you will be at the forefront of ensuring that AI is used responsibly and compliantly across our R&D pipeline. This is a relatively new function, and your work will be transformational – bridging the gap between technical teams, regulatory affairs, and health authorities to ensure Novo Nordisk can confidently leverage AI to accelerate drug development while maintaining our license to operate.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Acting as a subject matter expert within GxP-regulated processes in the AI Governance space, translating between technical teams and regulatory stakeholders to ensure alignment on how AI is developed, validated, and deployed
- Driving core projects for AI governance audit and inspection readiness in clinical trials, ensuring our processes and tooling reflect current and upcoming expectations from the FDA, EMA, and other health authorities
- Providing guidance to Lines of Business on operating within applicable AI governance frameworks and validation expectations – knowing when and how to engage with regulators
- Building strong ties with internal and external stakeholders across the value chain to position Novo Nordisk at the forefront of industry best practice in AI governance
- Supporting the development, implementation, and maintenance of AI governance policies, procedures, and validation practices in the GxP space
- Leading or supporting small to medium-sized projects that future-proof how we apply AI responsibly across the R&D pipeline
Your new department
In Research & Development, you'll be part of a unit that explores bold scientific ideas and advances them into clinical testing. We combine curiosity, AI tools, and human data to develop transformative therapies. Through collaboration and operational excellence, we shape and deliver an innovative pipeline to meet future patient needs.
Within R&D, the AI Governance team sits close to the drug pipeline with a clear mission: to ensure optimal and compliant access to AI across the entire R&D value chain. The outcomes from this department have significant impact on the efficiency, quality, and value Novo Nordisk delivers – ultimately for the good of our patients. You will report to the Director of AI Governance and work with a high degree of independence in a space that is rapidly evolving.
Your skills & qualifications
We're looking for someone who understands both the technology and how regulators think about it – someone who can anticipate where the regulatory landscape is heading and translate that into actionable governance.
- A PhD, MD, or MSc degree in a relevant field such as life science, computer science, data science, law, ethics, or similar
- 4+ years of working experience from the pharmaceutical industry, a healthcare regulatory body, or academia
- Deep understanding of data science and AI and its application in life science, combined with solid knowledge of global laws and regulations related to AI (including GxP and GDPR requirements)
- Proven ability to navigate complex stakeholder landscapes – translating between technical, regulatory, and business audiences across cultures and organisational levels
- A track record of driving complex change, building professional networks, and delivering business results with organisational impact
- Excellent communication skills and fluency in written and spoken English
