We are looking for a Digital Scientist / Data Specialist to contribute to the digital transformation of Research, Development & Engineering (RD&E) and its laboratories. In this role, you will play a dual part: acting as a technical data anchor for our new Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) roll-out, while simultaneously serving as a key team member across broader digital initiatives like formulation modeling and scientific computing.

Digital Scientist & Programme Coordinator (m/f/d)

You will start by structuring and securing our RD&E data assets, with the perspective to take ownership of our data architecture as a Knowledge Manager.

Your responsibilities:

  • LIMS Implementation & Operations

    • Support & Configuration: Assist in the setup, testing, and formatting of our new LIMS to mirror workflows across our RD&E labs.
    • Data Integration: Help connect laboratory equipment and software to the central LIMS platform to enable automated data collection.
    • User Support: Create clear user guides and train laboratory staff to ensure effective system adoption.
  • Digital Project Management & Governance

    • Project Delivery: Act as a valuable team member for digital initiatives in the RD&E space (e.g., formulation modeling, scientific computing).
    • Portfolio Coordination: Maintain the overall portfolio overview, manage project interdependencies, ensure consistent methodology, and secure a common language across initiatives.
    • Project Definition: Contribute to defining clear project scopes, hypotheses, timelines, and measurable success metrics.
    • Business Case Enablement: Support RD&E teams in building sound business cases and use cases
    • Roadmap Evolution: Help fine-tune the Digital Roadmap for RD&E, keeping it aligned with business needs, KPIs, and emerging technologies.
  • Data Management & Future Growth

    • Core Data Ownership & Quality: Lead the technical execution of data tasks. Drive the cleansing, transformation, and validation of raw data, and define data structures within projects to ensure high data quality and integrity.
    • Knowledge Management Pathway: Gradually take ownership of the RD&E data structure, helping to organize how information is stored and shared across teams.

Your Professional Experiences & Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Data Engineering, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related quantitative discipline.
  • Professional Experience: 3+ years of professional experience, ideally working with a LIMS or managing databases/scientific software, alongside proven experience in project environments.
  • Industry Experience: Prior experience in a Research & Development (R&D), Engineering, or Process Manufacturing environment is desirable to understand technical workflows (e.g., LIMS, scientific computing).

  • Data & Practical Skills: Hands-on experience with data cleaning, transformation, validation, and establishing data quality standards within large project environments.
  • Strategic & Business Thinking: Conceptual thinking skills to define project scopes, hypotheses, and measurable success metrics that align directly with the RD&E roadmap and Corporate Digital framework.
  • Collaboration & Culture: Ability to build strong working relationships, facilitate technical discussions among technical teams, business stakeholders, and IT.
  • Core Competencies: A structured, detail-oriented way of working, strong analytical and systems-thinking skills, and a collaborative mindset to work closely with lab personnel.
  • Drive & Adaptability: Proactive interest in emerging digital and analytics best practices, with a focus on practical application and assessment for adoption.
  • Language & Mobility: Fluent in English. Open to travel (~30%).
