About the Role

We are looking for an innovative and motivated Electronics Engineer to join our Research & Development team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing electronic circuit boards and associated test equipment for our range of analytical instruments. Working closely with cross functional teams, you will play a key role in developing reliable, high quality hardware solutions from concept through to production.

Key Responsibilities

As an Electronics Engineer you will:

  • Analyse technical requirements alongside Project Managers and Design Engineers.
  • Design the architecture and electronic circuit boards for our analytical instruments.
  • Develop schematic designs using electronic CAD software.
  • Perform PCB layout, placement and routing while considering mechanical and thermal constraints.
  • Prepare manufacturing documentation and production files in line with the company's ERP system.
  • Support prototype build, testing and validation, including the development of associated test benches.
  • Investigate and resolve hardware issues, providing technical expertise throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Identify obsolete components and recommend suitable replacement solutions.
  • Maintain and support the company's electronic CAD environment and associated design tools.
  • Monitor emerging technologies, industry developments and component obsolescence.
  • Manage engineering change requests and design modifications.
  • Produce clear technical documentation and design notes.
  • Deliver technical training to R&D engineers, technicians, Production and Customer Service teams.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, including participating in supplier audits and technical reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with company Health, Safety and Environmental policies and all relevant regulations.

What We Are Looking For

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Electronic Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Strong knowledge of analogue, digital and power electronics.
  • Experience designing electronic circuits and printed circuit boards (PCBs).
  • Proficiency with electronic CAD software and simulation tools.
  • Understanding of PCB design best practices and manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of analogue signal processing.
  • Familiarity with CE marking and relevant electronic regulations.
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Good project management and organisational skills.
  • Strong IT skills and confidence using engineering software.
  • Fluent English, both written and spoken.

Working Environment

You will work closely with colleagues across Research & Development, Production, Customer Service, Sales, Marketing, Purchasing, IT, Quality and Regulatory teams. The role also involves occasional business travel and the use of professional electronic CAD workstations within a modern R&D environment.
