As an IT M365 Expert, you are responsible for the design, development, and reliable operation of our cloud-based Modern Workplace environment built on Microsoft 365.

You ensure that employees have secure, efficient, and high-performing digital workplace solutions.

You collaborate closely with IT Security and Networking team.

What your work will consist of?

  • Core Microsoft 365 Platform Ownership
  • Operate, maintain, and optimize all core M365 workloads, with specialized mastery in Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business, Exchange Online, and Entra ID.
  • Ensure continuous availability, performance, scalability, and reliability of the entire M365 ecosystem, including collaboration workloads and content services.
  • Oversee tenant‑wide configuration, service health monitoring, adoption governance, and lifecycle management.

Microsoft Teams Expertise

Administer Microsoft Teams end-to-end:

  • Team lifecycle, templates, naming conventions, expiration & archival
  • Channel governance, granular permission models, and private/shared channels
  • Teams meeting policies, voice configurations, Teams Rooms, and compliance recording
  • Teams App governance: policies, app permission setups, third‑party integrations

Ensure seamless collaboration by configuring Teams* SharePoint integrations, inheritance models, and permissions alignment. (Aligned with your organization’s use of Teams as primary data workspace)

  • Provide expert guidance in Teams-driven document management, versioning, secure sharing, and data classification.

SharePoint Online Expertise

  • Architect, implement, and manage SharePoint Online site collections, hubs, information architectures, metadata structures, libraries, lists, and DLP-enforced collaboration policies.
  • Oversee permission governance using Azure/Entra groups, role-based access, and scalable permission models. (Supports the defined model of RW/RO Azure Security Groups for SharePoint inheritance)
  • Support organizational initiatives such as intranet evolution, content migration, data restructuring, and site administration for business units.

OneDrive for Business Expertise

  • Govern OneDrive environments, including synchronization controls, sharing restrictions, storage policies, and user onboarding.
  • Enable user adoption and transition away from legacy file servers, supporting organizational strategy to promote Teams + OneDrive modern data access models.
  • Ensure secure sharing across internal/external collaboration scenarios.

Exchange Online (EOX) Ownership

  • Full administrative control of mail flow, transport rules, connectors, accepted domains, compliance integrations, message tracing, and security configurations.
  • Oversee hygiene controls (DKIM, DMARC, SPF), anti-phishing, and secure email routing.
  • Lead mailbox provisioning, migration, hybrid coexistence, and associated governance.
  • Compliance, Retention & Governance (Microsoft Purview)
  • Design, implement, and enforce retention policies, retention labels, records management, and legal hold strategies across all M365 workloads.
  • Maintain data lifecycle governance using Purview capabilities such as audit, eDiscovery, Insider Risk, communication compliance, and sensitivity labels.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate, legal, and regulatory retention requirements, including defensible deletion and immutable record preservation.
  • Collaborate with Legal, Data Protection, and Security teams to respond to audits and discovery requests.

Identity & Security (Entra ID + Zero Trust)

  • Implement and maintain identity governance, including access reviews, entitlement management, identity lifecycle, and privileged identity management.
  • Configure Conditional Access, MFA enforcement, Identity Protection, and secure collaboration policies.
  • Contribute to Zero Trust strategy across identity, devices, applications, and data.

Modern Workplace Engineering & Automation

  • Lead design, implementation, and enhancement of Modern Workplace standards, operational frameworks, and administrative automation.
  • Develop automation solutions using PowerShell, Graph API, Power Platform, and workflow integrations.
  • Evaluate, pilot, and deploy new Microsoft 365 features, ensuring proper change management, communication, and documentation.

Cross-Team Collaboration & Operational Support

  • Support Service Desk and operational teams with deep-dive issue resolution, root-cause analysis, and best-practice guidance.
  • Deliver training, workshops, user enablement content, and capability development for internal teams.
  • Maintain close collaboration with IT Security, Networking, and Architecture teams to ensure a unified and secure digital environment.

Documentation, Standardization & Continuous Improvement

  • Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, governance guidance, support runbooks, and user guides.
  • Continuously identify areas for improvement in collaboration, compliance, automation, and overall M365 service maturity.
  • Lead or participate in projects related to cloud transformation, collaboration modernization, and digital workplace optimization

Maintain IT assets inventory via ITAM practices.

  • Ensure clear, consistent IT communication aligned with GDELS IT strategy.
  • Use predefined templates and standards for announcements, outages, and updates.
  • Promote inter-site collaboration and knowledge sharing across IT teams.
  • Facilitate onboarding and training sessions for new users and technologies.
  • Collaborate with security teams on vulnerability management and threat detection.

What is the profile required?

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience as a System Engineer with a focus on Microsoft M365.
  • Good understanding of IT security, Zero Trust, and cloud governance.
  • PowerShell scripting
  • Experience with automation (PowerShell, Graph API).
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • IT certifications (Microsoft MS-102, SC-300, MD-102, AZ-104) and ITIL Foundation
  • Ready to occasionally work late hours or on weekends for Patches/Updates/Rollouts
  • Highly committed
  • Advanced English written and spoken, Spanish and/or German is a plus
  • Strong analytical and conceptual thinking.
  • High degree of initiative and responsibility.
