As a QA Engineer at our grid, you play a key role in realising ABN AMRO’s strategy of being a personal bank in the digital age. Working closely with an interdisciplinary DevOps team, you are responsible for ensuring the quality, stability, and reliability of backend systems.

Your job

Key responsibilities

  • Define and drive test strategy for backend services and APIs
  • Design, develop, and maintain API and integration test frameworks
  • Validate service‑to‑service integrations and data flows
  • Ensure data integrity, contract validation, and error handling
  • Ensure quality gates are met in CI/CD pipelines
  • Perform manual exploratory testing when required
  • Identify, report, and track defects with clear root‑cause analysis
  • Collaborate closely with developers, product owners, and DevOps teams
  • Advocate for shift‑left testing, quality best practices, and continuous improvement
  • Mentor junior QA engineers and contribute to QA capability building. Working environment

In today's rapidly evolving financial landscape, the Daily Banking department facilitates customers in all their daily banking services like payments, savings, credits and insurance. The department is responsible for a clear and reliable product and contract administration, which helps to service our clients in the best way possible. In addition, we offer business customers opportunities to optimally manage their working capital by providing our business customers with state-of-the-art liquidity services, like cash pooling.

Being part of the Daily Banking IT team means you are working at the forefront of innovation, while safeguarding the stability of the core systems of the bank which serve many of the processes we offer to our clients. Our teams are multidisciplinary groups of ambitious colleagues working in a DevOps way. They manage the entire IT Development chain enabling fast time-to-market with maximum autonomy. Next to that you ensure -with your team- robust and stable day-to-day services to our clients.

At Daily Banking we are driven by the advancements in technology. Our IT landscape includes home-built applications, Azure Cloud and Mainframe Platform, RESTFUL and SOAP Web Services, Vue JS applications, interactions with SaaS solutions and more.

Your profile

Must have:

  • 5+ years of overall QA experience, including 3+ years of strong hands‑on API test automation
  • Strong experience with automation tools such as: Rest Assured, Karate
  • Experience with performance testing tools, such as: JMeter, NeoLoad
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments & DevOps ways of working
  • Strong proficiency with CI/CD tools (e.g., Azure DevOps pipelines, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI)
  • Hands‑on experience with test case management tools (e.g. Azure Test Plans)
  • Experience working with cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure

Good to Have / Nice to Have

  • Experience working in Fintech or regulated environments
  • Experience with contract‑based testing (e.g., Pact, Specmatic) to validate API agreements between services
  • Good understanding of web application testing
  • Experience with test data management and environment coordination

  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills in English (verbal and written)
  • Quick learner with adaptability to new tools and domains
