Who You Are:
We are seeking a Junior Europe Legal Counsel to join our Europe Legal Team at the European Regional Centre. This role is designed for a highly motivated junior legal professional who is eager to learn, willing to support different legal and compliance workstreams, and ready to grow together with a new in-house legal team.
The Junior Europe Legal Counsel will provide broad support to legal and compliance colleagues at the European Regional Centre, including legal research, regulatory monitoring, contract and document support, external counsel bill management, legal knowledge management, and internal legal process improvement. This role will also play an important part in exploring how new technologies, including AI tools, can be used to improve legal and compliance work efficiency.
This is a hands-on junior role. The successful candidate should be academically strong, highly diligent, detail-oriented, reliable, curious about new technologies, and willing to take on both legal research tasks and practical administrative support work where needed. The role will provide exposure to a wide range of legal and compliance areas, including commercial contracts, data protection, AI, competition, product liability, product safety, advertising, employment, IP, ESG, trade compliance, corporate governance, dispute support and regulatory monitoring.
We are a new Europe Legal Team building up a brilliant in-house legal and compliance system from the ground up. It will not be an easy journey. But it will be a great one.

Key Responsibilities:
General Legal and Compliance Support
- Provide comprehensive support to legal and compliance colleagues at the European Regional Centre.
- Assist senior team members with legal research, document review, contract comparison, legal memo preparation, translation, meeting notes, project tracking and internal reporting.
- Support different legal and compliance workstreams as assigned, including commercial legal matters, regulatory compliance, dispute support, corporate governance, risk control and internal process improvement.
- Help prepare practical legal materials, checklists, summaries, presentations and guidance documents for internal stakeholders.
- Take on ad hoc legal, compliance and administrative support tasks where required by the team.
Regulatory Monitoring Execution
- Carry out day-to-day regulatory monitoring across business, legal and compliance-related areas relevant to the European region.
- Track EU legal and regulatory developments, including but not limited to automotive regulation, product safety, product liability, consumer protection, data protection, Data Act, AI, competition, advertising, employment, IP, ESG, trade compliance, corporate governance, risk control and internal control.
- Collect, screen, record and organise regulatory updates from official sources, external counsel updates, industry publications and other reliable channels.
- Prepare preliminary summaries, tracking tables and regular monitoring reports under the guidance and supervision of senior legal colleagues.
- Identify developments that may require further review and escalate them to the relevant senior team member in a timely manner.
- Support the maintenance and improvement of the regulatory monitoring system, filing structure and reporting process.
Legal Knowledge Management
- Support the establishment and maintenance of the Europe Legal Team’s knowledge management system.
- Organize and maintain legal templates, standard clauses, legal memos, regulatory updates, external counsel advice, training materials and internal guidance documents.
- Help ensure that legal knowledge, precedents and work products are properly filed, updated and searchable.
- Assist in creating summaries, indexes and knowledge-sharing materials to improve team efficiency and consistency.
- Support internal training and knowledge-sharing activities where required.
Contract and Document Support
- Assist senior legal colleagues with contract review, contract comparison, proofreading, formatting and consistency checks.
- Support the preparation and update of contract templates, clause libraries, legal review checklists and standard document formats.
- Help prepare execution versions, signing packs, contract summaries and internal approval materials.
- Conduct legal and factual research to support contract drafting, negotiation and review.
- Support document management and archiving for key contracts and legal work products.
Project and Team Support
- Assist legal and compliance colleagues with project tracking, task coordination, meeting preparation, timeline management and follow-up actions.
- Support cross-functional legal and compliance projects by preparing trackers, collecting information, organising materials and following up with stakeholders.
- Help senior team members monitor project progress and identify pending actions or missing information.
- Provide flexible support to the Europe Legal Team where additional workload, urgent tasks or miscellaneous work needs to be handled.
External Counsel Bill and Matter Management
- Assist with external counsel bill management, including invoice collection, preliminary checking, matter tracking, fee recording and internal coordination.
- Support the tracking of external legal matters, fee budgets, engagement status and billing records.
- Coordinate with internal finance, legal colleagues and external counsel on administrative matters relating to invoices and legal service arrangements.
- Help maintain an organised record of external counsel engagements, advice received and related documents.
Technology and Innovation for Legal Work
- Proactively explore how new technologies, including AI tools, legal tech tools and workflow automation, can improve the efficiency and quality of legal and compliance work.
- Test and propose practical use cases for legal research, contract review, document comparison, regulatory monitoring, knowledge management, translation, reporting and internal workflow optimisation.
- Help convert technology exploration into practical internal productivity, such as templates, prompts, workflows, trackers or process improvement suggestions.
- Support the team in developing responsible, secure and appropriate ways to use technology in legal and compliance work.
- Stay curious about new tools and be willing to experiment, learn and share findings with the team.
What You Bring:
Education
- Master’s degree in International Law, EU Law, Dutch law, Belgian law, German law, French law, or the law of any EU Member State.
- Strong academic performance is required.
- Legal education or research experience in EU regulatory matters, commercial law, data protection, competition law, technology law, corporate law, international trade law or automotive-related legal topics is a plus.
Language Requirements
- Excellent English language skills are required, including legal reading, legal writing and professional communication.
- Chinese, Dutch, French, German or another European language is a plus.
Experience
- 0–3 years of relevant experience.
- Prior internship or work experience in a law firm, in-house legal department, international organisation, government authority, consultancy, automotive company, manufacturing company or technology-related business is a plus.
- Experience with legal research, regulatory tracking, contract review, legal writing, document management or project coordination is advantageous.
- Experience or strong interest in legal technology, AI tools, workflow automation or knowledge management is a plus.
