FSN Capital Partners are offering an internship opportunity in our Oslo or Munich office, starting September 2026 or January 2027.

The internship duration is 6-12 months, depending on mutual agreement. Full-time or part-time (~50%) commitment. Please indicate your preferences in your application.

About the opportunity

As an Applied AI Engineer Intern in the Operating Team at FSN, you work directly with our portfolio companies, on their commercial problems and their own data. These are businesses where a model that works turns up in next quarter's numbers. You are often the first AI engineer a portfolio company has worked with, and your engagements are prioritised within the Operating Team, working from our own offices alongside the company's team and data. We work mainly in Python and Go, on Google Cloud Platform.

The problems look like this for portfolio companies:

  • A sales team that knows who to call next: an upsell prioritization model built on the company's own customer data, shipped into their weekly routine
  • Ten thousand customer reviews distilled into next quarter's plan: a management team will plan a quarter around the output, so the bar is reliability rather than a convincing demo
  • A market you have to re-learn every time it changes shape: watching a fragmented supply market minute by minute for scarce parts, then getting the answer to procurement before someone else buys them, with a pipeline that detects when sources break A market's acquisition targets screened overnight: M&A screening that turns weeks of manual longlisting into a reviewed shortlist

Around 20% of your time will go to FSN Labs, the firm's internal research track, where new models, runtimes, and papers are tested against our own benchmarks before anything reaches production. Ask us about them in the interview.

Who we are looking for

  • A background in computer science, mathematics, or another quantitative field
  • Comfort with messy data and unfamiliar systems, since every engagement is a new domain
  • An interest in private equity and in understanding the businesses behind the data and the decisions your work feeds into The ability to take apart a business you have never seen, and to defend your reasoning when it is challenged

How to stand out

  • Top of your class, or evidence that grades undersell you
  • Measurable excellence, such as olympiads, competitions, research, or a repo people actually use
  • Experience with Go, Python, and Google Cloud A piece of work you scoped, built, and answered for once others depended on it

Please note that the candidate is personally responsible for being lawfully permitted to work in the applicable country during the period of potential employment
