Each AMBOSSian is passionate about being the champion of clinicians today - this motivates and unites us each day towards success. And what does success look like? When a clinician or med student tells us, “AMBOSS makes practicing medicine easier and enjoyable. I love what I do, and a big part is because of AMBOSS.”

Why can this position be exciting for you?
Join a brand-new Systems team at the moment of its founding. AMBOSS runs on a growing landscape of business systems: Workday as the ERP at the center, connected to Stripe, HubSpot, Pleo, Avalara, our banks, payroll and archiving. Our mission is to make this landscape develop holistically rather than tool by tool: every problem solved in the system where it belongs, end-to-end processes that run smoothly and efficiently, and clean data, trustworthy reports and real business outcomes at the end of them.
You will be one of the first hires of the Systems team and our specialist for Workday Financials. You will own the configuration, optimization, and support of Workday and the integrations around it. In the near term, that means playing a central role in stabilizing a fresh go-live; from there, you grow into the Finance systems SME who drives module expansions, new integrations, and continuous improvement across the landscape. The scope is unusually broad: real greenfield ownership, direct access to stakeholders across the business, and systems knowledge that stays valuable even as the tooling evolves.
We treat our expertise as platform-independent: the value we bring lives in accounting logic, process design, integration patterns and systems thinking, not in any single tool. Working side by side with Finance, Accounting, Commercial, Data and IT, we free the rest of AMBOSS to focus on its mission: empowering medical professionals worldwide to provide the best possible care.
You will:
- Configure, maintain, and continuously improve the Workday Financials backbone of our end-to-end finance processes: record-to-report (General Ledger), procure-to-pay (Accounts Payable), order-to-cash (Accounts Receivable), and bank connectivity (Banking & Settlement)
- Design and manage business process configurations, security roles, and domain policies in alignment with finance and audit requirements
- Build and maintain the custom reports, dashboards, and calculated fields that Finance and leadership rely on
- Design and manage the integrations that keep data flowing cleanly across the landscape: order-to-cash from Stripe (B2C) and HubSpot (B2B), procure-to-pay from Pleo, tax and e-invoicing with Avalara, bank connectivity and archiving
- Look across the whole systems landscape and recommend in which system a problem should be solved, so processes stay simple end to end and produce clean data
- Lead system testing (unit, regression, UAT) for configuration changes, bi-annual Workday releases, and new feature adoptions
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to gather requirements, translate business needs into system solutions, and deliver scalable configurations
- Provide Tier 2/3 support for Workday Financials issues, troubleshoot root causes, and implement lasting fixes
- Support Workday module expansions, re-implementations, and cross-functional projects as the Finance systems SME
- Maintain system documentation including configuration guides, process flows, and change logs
You bring:
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on Workday Financials configuration experience across the core modules (GL, AP, AR)
- Experience with the Workday business process framework and security configuration
- Strong Workday reporting skills including custom reports and calculated fields
- Experience connecting SaaS business systems: APIs, integration patterns, and clean data flows between tools
- You think in end-to-end processes across systems rather than in single tools
- Understanding of core accounting concepts (chart of accounts, period close, reconciliations)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured approach to troubleshooting
- Excellent communication skills: able to translate technical concepts for finance audiences and vice versa
Great if you have:
- Proficiency in German
- Workday Pro certification in Financials or adjacent modules
- Prior involvement in a full Workday implementation or re-implementation
- Accounting degree, CPA, or equivalent finance qualification
- Familiarity with SOX compliance and internal controls in a Workday context
- Deeper Workday tooling experience: BIRT, matrix reports, Workday Studio, EIBs / Core Connectors, and tenant management
You enjoy:
- You enjoy translating between two languages: turning finance and accounting needs into system logic, and explaining technical constraints back to non-technical colleagues in a simple way.
- You get the details right where they matter, and you know where they don’t. Financial systems punish sloppiness: a misconfigured business process or a broken integration shows up in the books. But you also work to ambitious timelines, and you’re pragmatic about scope: you can tell the difference between a detail that’s load-bearing (audit, data integrity, reconciliations) and one that’s polish that can wait. You’d rather ship something solid and iterate than let perfect become the enemy of done.
- You enjoy building things from scratch and shaping how they work. You’d rather design a process well the first time than inherit and patch someone else’s. Ambiguity and a blank slate energize you rather than unsettle you.
- You enjoy learning continuously and don’t get attached to one way of doing things. Vendor releases, new modules, and evolving business needs mean the ground keeps shifting. You stay curious, question your own setup, and treat “the tool changed” as interesting rather than annoying, including the possibility that the underlying platform itself changes over time.
- You perform structured, systematic troubleshooting. When something breaks, you like tracing it to the root cause rather than applying a quick patch, and you find genuine satisfaction in a fix that lasts.
- You enjoy End-to-End ownership and self-direction. You’re comfortable being the sole subject-matter expert on something, setting your own priorities, and driving work forward without someone checking in constantly.
