Position title

Hey there! Are you ready for an exciting challenge as an Industrial Software Engineer – Automation & PLC (f/m/d)? Are you passionate about developing intelligent automation solutions, programming modern control systems and commissioning innovative specialised machinery for the semiconductor industry?

With us, you can look forward to exciting projects covering PLC programming, drive technology, process automation, system integration and software standardisation. As part of our dedicated team, you won’t just be working alongside us – you’ll be actively helping to shape the automation technologies of tomorrow.

We foster a culture of informality, as we believe that innovation flourishes where people work together openly, honestly and as equals. This role can be carried out remotely and is location-independent. However, on-site induction is required.

Here’s what a typical day as an Industrial Software Engineer looks like:

  • Developing modern control and automation solutions

You will develop, maintain and optimise the control and visualisation software for our specialised machines for the semiconductor industry. You’ll programme PLC, drive and automation solutions using B&R Automation Studio, utilising programming languages such as ANSI-C, C++ and Structured Text, as well as modern configuration formats like XML and JSON. Drawing on your technical expertise, you’ll ensure high-performance, stable and future-proof automation systems.

  • Design and standardisation of software solutions

Using your analytical skills, you will develop reusable software modules, libraries and standards to simplify and optimise our development processes. You will support the further development of our software architectures and create sustainable solutions for efficient and scalable automation.

  • Integration of systems and interfaces

Thanks to your understanding of industrial communication, you will integrate third-party and host systems, as well as sensors, actuators and other plant components, into our machines. In doing so, you will work with common communication standards such as OPC UA, IO-Link, Modbus TCP and TCP/IP, ensuring reliable system communication.

  • Conducting tests and commissioning

You will create system simulations and carry out unit, integration and system tests. From development through to successful commissioning, you will oversee our software solutions and assist with acceptance testing and fault analysis. With your structured approach to work, you will make a significant contribution to the successful completion of projects.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team

As a committed individual, you will work closely with colleagues from the fields of software development, electrical engineering, process engineering, project management and service. Through your solution-oriented mindset and ability to work as part of a team, you will support the successful implementation of challenging client projects.

  • Involvement in innovative development projects

Thanks to your technical expertise, you will take on responsibility in development and optimisation projects. You will analyse customer requirements, draw up specifications and compliance documentation in accordance with SEMI standards, and play an active role in the further development of our automation platforms and machine concepts.

Qualifications

What you bring to the role:

  • Completed technical training or a degree in computer science, electrical engineering, automation technology or a comparable qualification
  • Experience in software development for automation and drive technology
  • Proficiency in ANSI-C, C++, Structured Text, as well as XML and JSON
  • Analytical thinking, problem-solving skills and a structured approach to work
  • Good command of English
  • Willingness to travel for international commissioning projects
  • Ideally, experience with B&R Automation Studio
  • Knowledge of B&R and/or Siemens control and drive systems
  • Experience with integration processes as well as testing and validation procedures
  • Knowledge of machine-to-machine communication and SEMI standards would be an advantage
  • Basic knowledge of IEC 62443, secure software development, network segmentation and user and role management would be an advantage
