PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The role of the Global IT Store POS System Specialist is to implement, supervise and maintain POS system components, including central and edge environments, across all supported touchpoints such as POS, SCO and mPOS, as well as all related downstream, upstream and edge integrations.
The role participates in projects in collaboration with global, regional and local resources to roll out, update and maintain the POS platform, acting as a technical authority and subject matter expert for POS-related matters.
The position also provides training, guidance and support to Helpdesk and Local IT support teams, contributes to the development of the knowledge database, and coordinates with internal IT partners and third-party providers where required.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Project-related responsibilities
Support POS-related projects, including rollouts, installations, updates and incident management, in coordination with the relevant Project Manager
Ensure the deployment of POS and SCO system components in compliance with corporate guidelines
Act as a functional and technical expert for Store Systems applications
Coordinate with first-level support, Local IT support and other IT teams during deployment and implementation phases to ensure successful delivery of the POS service
Collaborate with global, regional and local stakeholders to support POS platform rollouts, updates and continuous improvement initiatives
Ongoing operational responsibilities
Administer POS and SCO software components installed globally, including installations, updates, testing and rollouts
Coordinate with first-level support and Local IT support teams for system maintenance, system updates and setup reviews
Coordinate with third-party providers where applicable
Monitor and control the stability of the POS environment and related data flows
Maintain services related to POS and SCO systems, including central POS servers, as indicated by the Solution Architect
Support local POS integrations such as EFT, fiscal printers, local landlord reports and other related interfaces
Coordinate with Business Process Owners and Business Analysts to set up, test and validate promotions and specific configurations not delegated to end users, including Club Avolta, VIP vouchers and coupons
Act as an escalation point for first-level support, Local IT teams and key users, providing technical and functional support to L1 and L2 resources
Monitor central and edge systems and coordinate with the Solution Architect and Local Operations teams on preventive and corrective actions.
Support and train L1 and L2 IT resources on assigned tasks and contribute to the continuous development of the knowledge database
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Strong technical knowledge of POS and SCO systems and related
Working knowledge of JPOS / JavaPOS, including driver configuration.
Experience in the management of POS devices such as printers, scanners and PIN pads
Knowledge of MS SQL
Knowledge of Linux operating systems
Knowledge of Python and batch scripting
Understanding of networking and communication principles
Ability to interact with end users to understand business and operational needs
Ability to clearly explain technical issues to development teams responsible for implementing solutions
Flexibility to adapt to changing tasks, priorities and working requirements.
