Job description Precision mechatronics is at the heart of many of today's most advanced technologies. To support education and professional development in this field, the Precision Mechatronics group is developing a comprehensive textbook on the design principles of precision machines. As Technical Literature Editor, you will play a key role in turning expert knowledge into a coherent, engaging and accessible publication. You will collect, review and edit technical material contributed by multiple authors, ensuring consistency in style, structure and technical quality. Where needed, you will complement existing content with your own writing, develop clear technical illustrations and diagrams, and integrate all material into a cohesive textbook aimed at MSc students and engineering professionals. Much of the source material already exists in draft form, originating from various experts. You will work closely with these authors to discuss content, clarify technical concepts and agree on the best way to present the material. Your ability to combine scientific accuracy with clear communication will be essential. The project consists of eleven chapters. During the contract period, you are expected to complete approximately one-third to one-half of the manuscript, laying the foundation for a high-quality reference work that will support education and practice in precision mechatronics for years to come. Job requirements You have a PhD, or an equivalent level of thinking and working, with a strong affinity for precision mechatronics. You have demonstrated experience in writing, editing and illustrating technical or scientific textbook material. You can translate complex engineering concepts into clear, engaging and well-structured educational content. You are proficient in creating technical figures, diagrams and illustrations that enhance understanding. You enjoy collaborating with multiple authors and stakeholders and are able to build consensus on content and presentation. You work independently, are well organised and have excellent attention to detail. You have excellent written and spoken English.
