The Dean’s Office of the School of Management and Technology is seeking a student assistant for the winter semester 2026/27 to support the new peer mentoring program in the Management & Entrepreneurship master’s program. The position involves 15 hours of work per month and is initially limited to the period from October 2026 through February 2027.

As a peer mentor, you will help first-semester students – particularly international students – navigate the degree program, Leuphana University, and life in Lüneburg. You will share your personal experience, provide practical guidance, and foster interaction within the new cohort. Peer mentoring does not include subject-specific tutoring or formal academic advising.

The peer mentoring program will be launched simultaneously in three master’s programs. All mentors will receive joint training and preparation in collaboration with the Graduate School.

Your Responsibilities

  • Prepare and facilitate five peer mentoring sessions.
  • Share practical experience and guidance on organizing one’s studies, examinations, and academic culture.
  • Communicate regularly with participating students.
  • Host a weekly “Mensa Monday” lunch meetup during the first ten weeks of classes.
  • Refer students to the appropriate advising and support services when additional assistance is required.
  • Provide brief feedback to the Graduate School and contribute to the program evaluation.

Your Qualifications

  • You are enrolled in the Management & Entrepreneurship master’s program and have completed at least your first semester in the program.
  • You are familiar with the degree program and Leuphana University through your own experience.
  • You have an excellent command of English; German language skills are an advantage.
  • You communicate openly and respectfully and work reliably and independently.
  • You enjoy interacting with students from different countries and facilitating small groups.
  • You are regularly available around lunchtime on Mondays during the first ten weeks of classes.
  • Previous experience in mentoring or facilitation is welcome but not required.

What We Offer

  • A paid position as a student assistant.
  • The opportunity to develop and shape the peer mentoring sessions.
  • Practical experience in mentoring, facilitation, and intercultural communication.
  • Support from the Graduate School.
  • The opportunity to actively contribute to the welcoming and academic culture of the Management & Entrepreneurship master’s program.

Please submit your application as a single PDF file by August 31, 2026, with the subject line “Application – Peer Mentoring Entrepreneurship” to simon.benhoefer@leuphana.de.
