Are you an experienced engineering leader who wants real ownership of a platform spanning three verticals and a seat on the engineering management team? And do you have experience with leading managers through change, not just individual contributors?

Then you could be just the person we are looking for as our next Engineering Director at EG!

As Part of the departement

ASPECT4 is EG's core platform for Transport, Manufacturing, Timber and Fashion, built on a mature, proven foundation and now entering its next evolutionary step. As Engineering Director, you'll lead the shift from a stable RPG core toward more up-to-date, highly automated development - built with coding agents - without ever slowing delivery to our customers. You and your team will set the technology strategy that keeps ASPECT4 delivering great customer experiences as AI reshapes how software is built and used, and you'll do it with real ownership: the full platform, three verticals, and a seat on the engineering management team.

The organisation is around 60 people spread across Denmark and India with all roles in all locations. The team consists of developers, QA, PO and managers. You'll own the foundation platform together with three of the verticals built on top of it - Transport, Manufacturing and Fashion.

You'll report directly to Morten the VP of Engineering for the Retail & Supply Chain division and join the engineering management team responsible for a portfolio of supplemental products across the division.

Your Tasks: Leading Teams, Driving Modernisation, and Engaging Stakeholders

The role splits roughly into:

  • 40% people leadership – designing and leading your teams and, through them, the wider organisation across Denmark and India.

  • 40% technology strategy – 3 main themes:

  • How we work: Modernising our SDLC to increase efficiency and effectiveness by using agentic development for all tech stacks.

  • In place modernisation: Modernising the IBM i based ASPECT4 platform bringing MACH principles wherever possible to a platform that was not build for it, incrementally and while we deliver value to customers.

  • Building next generation integrated modules: Building new modules in a modern tech stack supporting our customers by integrating and enhancing our core systems.

  • 20% customer and stakeholder engagement - representing ASPECT4's technical direction to customers and internal stakeholders.

Concretely, you'll own the ongoing modernisation of the tech stack as a continuous part of live delivery - not a side project or a stop-the-world rewrite - while shaping where ASPECT4 goes next technologically.

You Are the Ideal Candidate If

Firm requirements:

We're hiring for leadership judgment over specific platform expertise. Our teams hold deep ASPECT4 and IBM i knowledge; your job is to lead them well and set the technical direction. So, the requirements below are about how you lead and think, not a technology checklist.

  • You have a proven track record leading managers, not only individual contributors - but this is also a senior organisation and first-time people managers won't have the base to succeed here.
  • You have experience delivering both SaaS and on-premises software to customers as well as interacting with customers.
  • You are fluent in English (Danish is not required).
  • You are comfortable setting technical direction across both a well proven business-critical platform and modern development practices.
  • You have set the direction in areas where your team knows more than you did and earned their trust while doing it.
  • Location: Central Jutland, with main office in Aarhus, but people in Kolding & Ikast.

Nice to have:

  • Experience modernising and maintaining platforms such as RPG / IBM i.
  • Exposure to AI-assisted or highly automated development practices.
  • Experience in one or more of transport, manufacturing, or fashion industry software.

Our Values

  • Stronger Together - We collaborate across borders with high standards, trust, openness and no politics. – We are a global organization with many different backgrounds; this makes us stronger and being part of the larger EG allows us to tap in to even more specialized competencies.

We look forward to hearing from you!
