About Yumwoof
At Yumwoof, we're redefining pet wellness with science-backed, anti-inflammatory dog food made from real ingredients. We're in the middle of a full rebrand and a stacked product-launch calendar — and we need a design leader to own the visual system and the creative pipeline that carries it across everything we ship. As our Design Lead, your work will define how pet parents see and feel the brand at every touchpoint, from the ad that stops the scroll to the bag on the shelf.
- Own the Look: You'll translate our new brand into a living design system the whole team can build on.
- Keep Creative Moving: You'll run the pipeline that keeps launches, tests, and campaigns on schedule.
- Grow with Purpose: Join a mission-driven, tight-knit team where your voice matters, your ideas shape the work, and your craft scales with heart.
Role Overview
This is a hands-on design leadership role for someone who can both set the visual standard and operate the machine that produces against it. You'll own the design system coming out of our rebrand, build the template libraries that let the team move fast, and keep the creative pipeline — video, static, email, organic, and packaging — on time and on brand across a busy launch calendar (rebrand rollout, Elevated Harvest, Big Breed, Ancestral Blend, and more).
You'll work cross-functionally across sales, growth, and brand, manage our external agencies and creators, and increasingly use AI to generate and scale assets. The goal: raise the creative bar while taking day-to-day creative direction, QA, and agency coordination off leadership's plate.
What You'll Do
Design system & brand
- Build and own the design guide — translate the new brand guide into a practical, day-to-day design system (typography, color, layout, iconography, logo usage, do's and don'ts) that anyone on the team or an agency can follow.
- Create and maintain template libraries for email, paid ads, organic social, and physical products/packaging — so on-brand assets can be produced quickly as products and offers update.
- Be point of contact for design across the organization – make sure the brand is consistent across all initiatives and channels.
Creative production & QA
- Write creative briefs and QA final deliverables against brand standards and platform specs before they ship.
- Own the creative production pipeline and roadmap — keep the video and static roadmaps on schedule, unblock stalled work, and offer insight into what works.
- Maintain the operating system for creative — naming conventions, hold tracker, and a single source of truth for what's in production, testing, live, or paused.
AI generation & asset library
- Generate images and assets with AI tools and own the AI asset library — organization, versioning, quality bar, and usage/rights.
- Manage the broader asset library — brand photography, founder and product B-roll, and lifestyle imagery — so the team can find and reuse approved assets.
Cross-functional partnership
- Partner across sales, growth, and brand — deliver creative for acquisition tests, retail and trade-show collateral, website and product-page assets, and brand campaigns.
Contractors, agency & vendor management
- Manage agency and creator relationships and deadlines — scope work, set timelines, give clear creative direction, and QA output so it lands on time and on brand.
- Manage and delegate to existing contractors for video and static deliverables.
Launch & rebrand support
- Deliver creative for product launches and brand changes across web, email, ads, organic, and packaging and help keep messaging consistent through each transition.
What We're Looking For
- 4+ years of brand/creative design in DTC/e-commerce, with a portfolio spanning digital (email, paid social, web) and physical (packaging, print/retail).
- Design-systems fluency — you've built and maintained brand guidelines and template libraries that non-designers can use (Figma and Canva; Adobe Creative Suite).
- Hands-on with AI image generation (e.g., Midjourney, Firefly, or similar) and a clear point of view on using it to scale without dropping the brand's quality bar.
- Strong creative-ops instincts — you can run a production pipeline, hold deadlines, and QA to spec without hand-holding.
- Comfortable managing agencies, creators, and freelancers — clear briefs, constructive feedback, and accountability for deadlines.
- Self-directed and cross-functional — you translate business goals into creative and can move between sales, growth, and brand contexts.
Bonus (not required):
- Pet, wellness, or CPG brand experience
- Motion design / video editing
- Familiarity with Clickup or similar project manager.
- Experience producing creative for performance-marketing testing and rebrand/relaunch cycles
What Success Looks Like (first 90 days, part-time)
- Days 0–30 — Get your arms around it: audit current assets and pipeline; ship v1 of the design guide and the core template set; get the production roadmap accurate, current, and visible.
- Days 30–60 — Stabilize it: clear the overdue creative backlog; get templates in active use across email, ads, and organic; stand up and organize the AI asset library.
- Days 60–90 — Scale it: deliver launch-ready creative for campaigns on schedule; agency deadlines reliably hit; leadership is out of the day-to-day creative-approval critical path.
