Lead Installation Engineer

Location: Netherlands — travel required across Europe

Department: Installation

Reports to: Installation Manager

Job type: Full-time, permanent

About the Role

We're looking for an experienced Lead Installation Engineer to take charge of on-site installations from start to finish. You'll lead installation teams, act as the main point of contact for our customers on site, and make sure every project is delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.

This is a hands-on leadership role — you'll still be out on the tools, while also guiding, coaching and developing the engineers around you. Projects span the UK and Europe, so you'll be comfortable travelling to customer sites across the continent as required.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Leading installation teams on customer sites, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to company standards
  • Installing, configuring and commissioning audio visual, lighting, automation, access control and structured cabling systems
  • Allocating daily tasks and providing direction to Installation Engineers to keep projects on schedule
  • Acting as the main point of contact for customers and site representatives throughout the installation
  • Building strong working relationships with customers, contractors and other trades to ensure smooth project delivery
  • Reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics and installation documentation, and briefing the team on requirements
  • Carrying out quality checks on completed works ahead of project handover
  • Coaching and mentoring Installation Engineers on site, promoting best practice and ongoing development
  • Escalating technical issues, project risks or customer concerns to the Installation Manager where needed
  • Keeping installation documentation, job sheets, timesheets, expenses and completion reports accurate and up to date
  • Taking responsibility for the safe use and security of company-issued equipment (vehicle, laptop, mobile phone, test equipment, company credit card)
  • Managing site materials, stock levels and equipment to ensure efficient use of resources
  • Supporting the Service team with maintenance and fault-finding where required
  • Promoting a positive "One Team" culture through leadership, communication and collaboration
  • Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety legislation, company policy and site procedures, including toolbox talks
  • Travelling across Europe, including overnight stays, to support customer installations

What We're Looking For

  • Significant experience in a technical installation or engineering role
  • Proven experience installing audio visual, access control, structured cabling, lighting or automation systems
  • Previous experience leading or supervising installation teams on customer sites
  • Excellent communication and customer relationship management skills
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics and project documentation
  • Strong leadership, organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to motivate and mentor colleagues while maintaining high technical standards
  • Good understanding of project scheduling, site coordination and installation quality standards
  • Competent user of Microsoft Office and basic digital reporting systems
  • Full, valid driving licence enabling travel across Europe
  • Willingness to travel across Europe, including working away from home when required

Desirable certifications:

  • ECS or CSCS card (or recognised European equivalent)
  • IPAF certification
  • PASMA certification
  • AVIXA CTS-I certification
  • UKATA certification (or recognised European equivalent asbestos awareness training)
  • SSSTS qualification
  • Electrical qualification, or a recognised qualification in telecommunications, networking or audio-visual systems
  • Experience managing customer-facing installation projects

What You'll Bring

  • A natural leader who leads by example
  • Professional and confident when dealing with customers and stakeholders
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
  • Calm under pressure, with sound decision-making on site
  • A strong communicator who promotes teamwork and collaboration
  • Takes ownership of responsibilities and company assets
  • Proactive, adaptable and committed to continuous improvement
  • Dedicated to delivering exceptional quality and customer service

What We Offer

  • The opportunity to work on high-profile installation projects across the UK and Europe
  • Ongoing training and professional development, including support towards industry certifications
