Description:

The BETA Technological Centre is made up of a young, multidisciplinary team of more than 140 professionals and seeks to recruit a dynamic individual with leadership skills and a strong interest in becoming part of this project.

The successful candidate will join the “Sustainability Accounting and Optimization” research line at the BETA Technological Centre as the scientific lead for tasks related to the sustainability assessment of various European projects, as well as several knowledge transfer projects with companies.

We are looking for a specialist in sustainability assessment (economic, social and environmental), including Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) as a core methodology, in the field of emerging technologies analysis and industrial process modelling

Functions and duties:

• Lead practitioner and person responsible for sustainability assessment tasks in several European projects.
• Scientific manager and coordinator of knowledge transfer projects with companies.
• Promotion of new projects with companies.
• Preparation and submission of new proposals to secure additional European funding.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Biology, Environmental Sciences, Economics, or related disciplines. Certification of Level C1 in Catalan or commitment to obtain it. Accreditation of Level B2 English or commitment to obtain it. Advanced command of Life Cycle Assessment software, particularly OpenLCA (as well as GaBi, SimaPro or Brightway). Previous experience in the implementation of projects with the private sector. Knowledge of chemical engineering process modelling software (such as Aspen Plus and/or SuperPro Designer). Programming skills (R, Python, or other programming languages). Knowledge of economic analysis and technology transfer. Advanced knowledge of Life Cycle Assessment methodologies. Knowledge of data processing and industrial inventory development.

Other requirements

Merits

• PhD in Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Biology, Environmental Sciences, Economics, or related disciplines.
• Experience in team leadership.
• Previous participation in European projects.
• Previous experience in the implementation of projects with the private sector.
