PROJECT TO BE DEVELOPED:
The Advanced Therapies Platform (PTA) at Sant Joan de Déu Research Institute (Barcelona) is seeking an outstanding Senior Postdoctoral Researcher to join the SOLARIS project, a Horizon Europe-funded international consortium focused on accelerating the development and clinical translation of innovative Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMPs) for rare diseases.
The successful candidate will play a central role in the implementation of the SOLARIS work plan at Sant Joan de Déu, contributing to the development, optimization and translation of advanced therapeutic strategies, while interacting with a multidisciplinary network of leading European academic, clinical and industrial partners.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced postdoctoral researcher wishing to work at the interface between cutting-edge research, GMP manufacturing, regulatory science and clinical translation.
KEY RESPONSABILITIES:
- Lead and execute research activities within the SOLARIS project.
- Design and optimize advanced therapy approaches, including gene therapy, gene editing and/or cell-based therapies.
- Coordinate scientific activities with European consortium partners and contribute to consortium deliverables and milestones.
- Work closely with the Advanced Therapies Platform to facilitate the translation of research into GMP manufacturing and clinical application.
- Supervise junior researchers, PhD students and research assistants.
- Prepare scientific reports, publications and presentations for consortium meetings and international conferences.
- Contribute to the preparation of competitive European and national research proposals.

THE PROFILE WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
- PhD in Biomedical Sciences, Molecular Biology, Immunology, Genetics, Biotechnology or a related discipline.
- Completion of at least one postdoctoral fellowship (minimum 2–3 years of postdoctoral research experience).
- Demonstrated expertise in Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMPs), including gene therapy, gene editing, cell therapy and/or immunotherapy.
- Strong publication record in high-impact international journals.
- Experience in managing collaborative research projects and working in multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
DESIRABLE:
- Experience in translational research and development of ATMPs.
- Knowledge of genome editing technologies (CRISPR/Cas), viral vectors, stem cell biology or immune cell engineering.
- Previous experience working within European collaborative projects (Horizon Europe, ERC, MSCA or similar).
- Familiarity with GMP environments, quality systems and regulatory requirements for ATMP development.
- Experience supervising students or junior researchers.
