The Senior Authorised Person holds overall accountability for Sensori's electrical safety rules regime across their assigned projects, ensuring a safe system of work is established, governed and adhered to at all times.

Where the Authorised Person implements the rules on a single project, the SAP owns the framework behind them - assessing and appointing Authorised Persons, approving switching programmes, adjudicating on operational restrictions, leading incident investigations and acting as the senior technical authority for control of electrical danger.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own, implement and continually review Sensori's (or the contract-specific) Electrical Safety Rules, ensuring they remain aligned with current legislation, standards and client requirements.
  • Audit the application of the Electrical Safety Rules across projects, closing out findings and driving corrective action.
  • Ensure Sensori's Operation and Energisation procedures for work on LV and MV systems are correctly applied, and contribute to their development and revision.
  • Retain overall responsibility for cover of all systems and installations for which the company has control of the electrical danger.
  • Implement and govern maintenance policies for the Technical Services Department.
  • Assess the competence of candidates for Authorised Person appointment, and issue, limit, suspend or withdraw authorisations as appropriate.
  • Maintain the register of Authorised Persons and Competent Persons, including scope of authorisation and training currency.
  • Provide technical support, mentoring and escalation cover to Authorised Persons across the project portfolio.
  • Verify that AP-led LOTO processes and procedures are correctly applied on site.
  • Review and approve low voltage switching plans prior to execution on site.
  • Review and approve high voltage / medium voltage switching plans prior to execution on site.
  • Act as senior technical authority for switching operations on the HV/LV system, undertaking or directing switching where required.
  • Approve the release of systems for energisation and hand-back, and interface with the client's SAP or site owner on system ownership and control boundaries.
  • Govern the QR code process for ACBs/MCCBs where implemented on a project.
  • Commission, review and interpret project arc flash studies, and set the resulting PPE requirements for work within electrical rooms.
  • Where no arc flash study exists, determine the applicable controls in line with Sensori's Operation and Energisation procedures for work on LV and MV systems.
  • Adjudicate on and authorise Operational Restrictions, and own the system for investigating any equipment subject to one.
  • Act as the escalation point for all accidents, incidents and dangerous occurrences associated with work on electrical distribution systems.
  • Lead or oversee investigations, determine root cause, and ensure lessons learned are communicated across projects and reflected in procedure.
  • Report to senior management and, where required, to the client and relevant authorities.
  • Ensure subcontractor documentation, including safety documentation, is maintained, current and filed for future reference.
  • Attend site meetings, internal project reviews, engineering reviews, planning and coordination meetings and handover meetings.
  • Support the close-out of project items including final account, O&M manuals, punch list, safety file, QA file, material and plant relocations and project plan.
  • Set and drive the Sensori culture of safety and quality across all assigned projects.
  • Provide visible senior safety and quality leadership to project teams, subcontractors and client stakeholders.

Essential Criteria

  • Trade or engineering background with 15+ years' experience on large installation projects, including significant time in an Authorised Person capacity.
  • Completed High Voltage Authorised Person / Senior Authorised Person training within the last 2 years.
  • Completed Low Voltage Authorised Person training within the last 2 years.
  • Demonstrable experience assessing competence and appointing or overseeing Authorised Persons.

  • Experience leading incident investigation and root cause analysis.
  • Experience in design and build.
  • Excellent IT and communication skills, with the ability to influence at client and senior management level.
  • Ability to work to strict deadlines and provide authority across multiple concurrent projects.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience on data centre, pharmaceutical or large-scale commercial projects.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical systems.
  • Experience authoring or revising electrical safety rules and energisation procedures.
  • Familiarity with arc flash study commissioning and QR-coded asset management processes.
