We are seeking an experienced Environmental Application Engineer to join our EMEA team. This is an exciting opportunity for a technical expert in environmental monitoring and micrometeorology to play a key role in supporting customers, developing technical solutions, and advancing scientific measurement practices across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

As part of our global micrometeorology team, you will work closely with leading universities, research institutions, and industry professionals, providing expert technical guidance, application support, training, and product expertise. What You'll Be Doing

Technical Support & Problem Solving

  • Provide first- and second-line technical support for Campbell Scientific instrumentation, sensors, data loggers, and software.
  • Diagnose and resolve customer and internal technical issues efficiently and professionally.
  • Support system troubleshooting, commissioning, and ongoing operation.

Environmental Application Expertise

  • Develop and maintain expert knowledge of environmental monitoring applications, particularly micrometeorology and related measurement techniques.
  • Advise customers on system selection, configuration, deployment, and best practices.
  • Support the successful implementation of monitoring solutions across a range of environmental research applications.

Customer Engagement

  • Build strong relationships with customers, including universities, research institutes, and environmental organisations.
  • Act as a trusted technical advisor throughout the customer journey.
  • Deliver product demonstrations, technical consultations, commissioning support, and customer training.

Training & Knowledge Sharing

  • Deliver expert-level training in micrometeorology and environmental measurement techniques for both internal teams and external customers.
  • Contribute to the development of training materials and educational resources.

Documentation & Project Support

  • Produce and maintain technical documentation, application notes, and support records.
  • Provide accurate technical specifications and manufacturing information for standard and bespoke solutions.
  • Support production and operations teams with technical input when required.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with sales, engineering, production, and research teams to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Provide technical expertise during both pre-sales and post-sales activities.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of products, processes, and customer experiences.

Market & Product Insight

  • Stay informed about developments in environmental science, instrumentation technologies, and industry standards.
  • Gather customer feedback and identify opportunities for product enhancement and innovation.

Quality & Data Integrity

  • Promote best practices in measurement quality, system reliability, and data integrity.
  • Support customers and colleagues in implementing robust data collection and management methodologies.

Strategic Contribution

  • Establish and deliver measurable objectives that support Campbell Scientific's micrometeorology strategy and business goals.

What We're Looking For

Essential Experience & Skills

  • Extensive experience in micrometeorology and environmental monitoring applications.
  • Experience advising universities, research institutions, or scientific organisations on technical matters.
  • Strong understanding of environmental instrumentation and measurement systems.
  • Ability to communicate complex scientific concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong customer focus with proven experience building and maintaining professional relationships.
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail and data management skills.
  • A proactive, innovative, and solutions-focused approach.
  • Strong appreciation for data quality, consistency, and best-practice measurement techniques.
  • Full clean EU driving licence.
  • Willingness to travel across EMEA and internationally when required.
  • Eligibility to work within the EU and ability to travel freely within the region.

Qualifications

  • PhD (or equivalent advanced qualification) in an environmental science or related discipline.
  • Fluent English, plus fluency in at least one additional European language, with the ability to communicate and translate technical information effectively.

Desirable

  • Professional qualification in sales, business administration, or a related discipline.
  • Experience delivering technical training and presentations to diverse audiences.
  • Knowledge of Campbell Scientific products and solutions.
