The Max Perutz Labs are a research institute established by the University of Vienna and the Medical University of Vienna to provide an environment for excellent, internationally recognized research and education in the field of Molecular Biology. Dedicated to a mechanistic understanding of fundamental biomedical processes, scientists at the Max Perutz Labs aim to link breakthroughs in basic research to advances in human health. The Max Perutz Labs are located at the Vienna BioCenter, one of Europe’s hotspots for Life Sciences, and host 44 research groups, involving around 400 scientists and staff from more than 50 nations.

Your scientific profile:

You must hold a Master's degree, majoring in molecular biology or cell biology

You must have successfully passed the selection procedure for the Vienna Biocenter PhD Program

Basic experience in academic writing and profound knowledge enhancer biology, transcriptional regulation and synthetic approaches for studying regulatory genomic landscapes

Methodological competencies in molecular biology, mouse embryonic stem cells, and FACS

Practical experience and theoretical knowledge in bioinformatics, R, NGS analysis and genome annotation

You should have some experience in external funding acquisition (research fellowships)

Your future tasks:

You actively participate in research, teaching & administration, which means:

You are involved in research projects and scientific studies, and carry out independent work in the area of molecular and cell biology

You participate in writing scientific publications

You work on your dissertation and its completion

You supervise students

You teach courses and hold exams independently

You collaborate in organizational and administrative tasks and in evaluation activities

You participate in the organization of meetings, conferences and symposia

You collaboration in grant applications and acquisition of third-party funds (research grants)

This is part of your personality:

Didactic competences / experience with e-learning

Excellent command of written and spoken English (C1 Level)

You should be a team player with high social skill
