Freelance chef for Indian restaurant in Delft

Diya Delft brings authentic Indian flavours to a broad audience. Our goal is to build a bridge between Indian cuisine and the local community by combining traditional recipes with a modern, accessible street-food approach.

We currently provide food for private parties, corporate events and other special occasions. In addition, we are preparing to relaunch our restaurant in Delft. To support these activities, we are looking for an experienced freelance chef specialising in Indian cuisine.

What will you be doing?

As our freelance Indian cuisine chef, you will be hired for individual events, catering assignments and, where mutually agreed, projects related to the relaunch of the restaurant.

Depending on the assignment, your responsibilities may include:

• Preparing authentic Indian dishes for parties, events and restaurant service;
• Helping to develop menus that combine traditional Indian flavours with a modern street-food presentation;
• Planning preparations and coordinating kitchen activities for an agreed assignment;
• Monitoring the quality, flavour, consistency and presentation of dishes;
• Working efficiently during busy services and larger events;
• Advising on ingredients, recipes, portion sizes and kitchen processes;
• Working in accordance with HACCP and applicable food-safety standards;
• Collaborating professionally with Diya Delft’s team and other independent professionals.

For the restaurant relaunch, we are particularly interested in someone who can contribute ideas about menu development, kitchen preparation and the practical implementation of our culinary concept.

Who are you?

We would like to work with someone who:

• Has demonstrable professional experience with Indian cuisine;
• Has extensive knowledge of Indian spices, ingredients and cooking techniques;
• Can independently organise and carry out an agreed kitchen assignment;
• Remains calm and delivers consistent quality under pressure;
• Is creative in both recipe development and presentation;
• Understands portion control, food costs and commercial feasibility;
• Communicates clearly in English; knowledge of Dutch is an advantage;
• Is flexible and available for occasional assignments, including evenings and weekends;
• Is reliable, professional and pleasant to work with.

Experience with catering, events, restaurant openings or menu development is an advantage.

You work as an independent professional and:

• Are registered as a business or self-employed professional;
• Can submit invoices for completed assignments;
• Are responsible for your own taxes, insurance and business administration;
• Agree your availability, scope of work and fee with us for each assignment;
• Have the appropriate documentation to perform freelance work in the Netherlands.
