Research Position (Postdoc) (m/f/d) in Theoretical Physics ID: Wiss26260* starting: as soon as possible

- fixed-term The Faculty of Physics of Bielefeld University has an opening for a postdoctoral position in the field of lattice QCD at finite temperature and density. The position is located in the Collaborative Research Center CRC-TR 211 "Strong interacting matter". The successful candidate will work within the project A01 "The chiral transition at low net baryon-number density". Interaction with scientists within the CRC and international collaborations as the HotQCD collaboration are foreseen and will foster an inspiring environment for research. The research project includes lattic QCD simulations using various discretization schemes near the chiral phase transition and with imaginary chemical potentials to probe universal critical behavior in QCD. The duration of the position will be for 2 years initially, with a possible extension to a third year.
Your Tasks Research (78 %):
- development of the lattice QCD code SIMULATeQCD
- running of lattice QCD simulations and analysis codes, in the context of the chiral QCD transition
- evaluation and interpretation of results, including analytical calculations
- involvement in writing publications and presentation of scientific results at conferences
- participation of meetings organized within the CRC-TR 211 and other workshops
Teaching (22 %):
- participate in teaching (4 LVS)

Your Profile We expect
- completed university degree (Master or equivalent) in Physics
- completed PhD degree in theoretical physics (completed by the start of employment)
- demonstrable prior experience in lattice field theory
- experience with programming and numerical methods, preferably including on high-performance computing facilities
- very good command of written and spoken English
- independent, self-reliant and committed working style
- cooperative and team-oriented way of working
- good presentation and moderation skills
