We are currently seeking a Jr Mechanical Engineer, reporting directly to Section Lead Furnace Steel Engineering to join our Furnace Engineering team based in Zoetermeer, Netherlands.

About the mission we offer you:
As Jr Mechanical Engineer specialized in Refractory, Painting & Insulation you will be responsible for maintaining refractory-related standards within the company and advising other engineers on the application of related materials across various sections, including Furnace Internals, Furnace Steel, and Static Equipment. You will prepare refractory requisitions, generate Technical Bid Tabulations (TBT), coordinate with vendors, and review vendor documentation. Additionally, you will oversee all aspects of painting and insulation engineering, ensuring compliance with technical requirements and standards. You will be supervised by a more experienced colleague (senior engineer).
General Tasks:
- Focus on supporting senior engineers with preparing drawings, material lists (MTOs) and technical specifications
- Promote and ensure adherence to HSE regulations in daily activities and project execution.
- Learning and gaining knowledge about standards, materials and methods. Successful development will lead to overseeing all activities related to refractory, painting, and insulation engineering.
- Provide advice, support, and assistance to other engineers applying refractory, painting, and insulation materials.
- Maintain contact with suppliers to stay updated on new developments in refractory, painting, and insulation technologies.
- Assist in maintaining and updating work instructions, specifications, and standards for refractory, painting, and insulation engineering.
- Review customer technical requirements for refractory, painting, and insulation specifications.
- Prepare technical specifications for refractory lining, painting, and insulation materials.
- Coordinate and advise on refractory and painting/insulation materials with lead engineers across disciplines.
- Perform vendor document reviews to ensure the suitability of selected materials and designs.
- Advise on refractory inspections and material selection for technical and engineering purposes.
- Communicate material requirements with other engineering disciplines and construction teams.
- Initiate testing programs for materials to enhance knowledge and improve furnace-specific designs.
- Provide hour estimations, project reporting, and progress updates related to painting and insulation activities. Ensure lessons learned are incorporated into future projects through quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:
- Minimum: Bachelor's degree (BSc) in Mechanical Engineering, Materials, Chemical Engineering or similar.
- Learning ability and willingness to develop an expertise in painting, insulation, and refractory lining engineering standards and specifications.
- Ability to work under supervision and analyze information, learn and collaborate effectively in a team.
- Familiarity with heat transfer calculations. Proficiency in English (Dutch is a plus).
