Amentum is seeking a Cook to support a unique US Navy program on the island of Diego
Garcia. The cook will be responsible for providing daily support to the culinary functions of
the contract. The cook must demonstrate strong interpersonal, analytical, and written and
verbal communication skills, along with the ability to eƯectively manage multiple priorities
and perform successfully in a fast paced, high pressure environment.
Job Responsibilities:
- Prepare and measure ingredients in accordance with standard recipes and menu
requirements.
- Collaborate with the Executive Chef and culinary team to prepare and serve high
quality meals during scheduled dining periods.
- Maintain accurate food inventory records and report inventory discrepancies as
needed.
- Store food products in compliance with food safety standards, ensuring proper
temperatures are maintained.
- Rotate food inventory using established stock rotation methods (fi rst in fi rst out) to
ensure freshness and minimize waste.
- Replenish kitchen supplies, ingredients, and workstations in preparation for
upcoming shifts.
- Clean and sanitize food preparation areas, kitchen equipment, and workstations at
the end of each shift in accordance with sanitation and safety standards.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned that are consistent with the nature and
level of the position.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Cook in a commercial or restaurant
environment.
- Ability to read, interpret, and follow recipes and food production guidelines.
- Working knowledge of proper food handling, sanitation, and food safety procedures.
- Ability to work eƯectively as part of a team in a fast paced, high volume kitchen
environment.
- ServSafe Food Handler or Food Protection Manager Certifi cation preferred, or the
ability to obtain.
- Must be in possession of a valid passport and be able to travel internationally.
- Passport must be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring.
- Ability to obtain country-specifi c visas per the U.S. Department of State Foreign
Clearance Guide.
- Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain
compliance throughout the duration of deployment.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
- Employees must read, speak, and comprehend English to the extent that they can
perform the contract requirements and comply with installation emergency
procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience working in an austere OCONUS (Outside the Continental United
States) environment with a multi-national workforce
- A valid driver’s license to legally operate a motor vehicle. .

Working Environment
This position is located on Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT), a remote
overseas location supporting U.S. Government operations. Employees may work in oƯice,
industrial, warehouse, port, airfi eld, and outdoor environments and may be exposed to
high temperatures, humidity, inclement weather, noise, dust, and uneven terrain. Work
schedules may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on
operational requirements.
Physical Requirements
Requirements may include prolonged sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, lifting up
to 25 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally, and working in both indoor and
outdoor environments. Must be able to meet all medical, security, and deployment
requirements associated with assignment to a remote overseas location.
