Technical delivery specialist in data engineering. The individual combines the technical credibility of a senior Azure Data Engineer within the central Data Engineering team with ownership of end-to-end delivery execution, enabling successful delivery of strategic technical initiatives. They leverage their technical expertise to challenge assumptions, anticipate risks, influence priorities, and drive delivery decisions across the data platform landscape.

This role combines strong hands-on knowledge of Azure-based data platforms, Databricks, data integration, and software delivery practices with delivery leadership and stakeholder engagement responsibilities. The Senior Delivery Coordinator serves as a key coordination point between engineering teams, platform teams, product stakeholders, and management, ensuring technical initiatives are appropriately scoped, prioritized, governed, and delivered.

The ideal candidate is a highly experienced data engineer with a strong understanding of modern data platforms and a proven ability to coordinate complex deliveries across multiple teams, stakeholders, and workstreams.

Role:

• Lead the end-to-end delivery coordination of complex data engineering initiatives across multiple projects, teams, and stakeholders.
• Drive project intake processes, ensuring requests are properly assessed, prioritized, aligned to strategy, and tracked through delivery.
• Partner with Engineering Managers, Engineering Leads, Product Managers, and stakeholders on roadmap planning, prioritization, and delivery governance.
• Orchestrate planning activities, delivery reviews, dependency management, and execution tracking across workstreams.
• Anticipate delivery risks, capacity constraints, technical dependencies, and organizational blockers, driving mitigation plans proactively.
• Ensure portfolio milestones, timelines, dependencies, and deliverables remain visible and aligned across all involved parties.
• Challenge assumptions, influence priorities, and drive accountability to achieve delivery commitments and business objectives.

Background:

• Strong experience in ETL development, data warehousing, CI/CD, code design, and data modeling.
• Strong experience with Azure platform and tools: Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure DevOps, Key Vault, VMs, Blob Storage, etc.
• Strong experience with database and data storage technologies: SQL databases (SQL Server, Oracle, Postgres, etc.), ACID operations, data lakes, Delta Tables, Unity Catalog.
• Strong experience in scripting and engineering development using PySpark, Python, R, etc.
• Strong experience with Agile delivery frameworks: SCRUM, SAFe, project and program delivery methodologies.
• Good understanding of data architecture principles, solution architecture, and enterprise data platforms.
• Good understanding of project/program management and delivery governance practices.
• Good understanding of product lifecycle management and stakeholder engagement.
