Amentum is seeking an Electrician to support a unique US Navy program on the island of Diego Garcia. The Electrician will be responsible for performing a broad range of electrical installation, maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and construction support activities for commercial, industrial, and facility electrical systems. This position conducts inspections, testing, circuit fault diagnosis, and repairs while ensuring compliance with electrical codes, safety regulations, and company standards.
Job Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, repair, troubleshoot, and replace electrical systems, wiring, equipment, and components in accordance with electrical codes, standards, and contract requirements.
- Inspect, test, and troubleshoot electrical distribution systems, circuits, and equipment to identify faults and restore service.
- Identify and correct life, health, and safety hazards associated with electrical systems and equipment.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical systems to maximize reliability and operational readiness.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
- Select appropriate materials, tools, and equipment required for electrical installations and repairs.
- Maintain accurate maintenance, inspection, testing, and repair records.
- Ensure electrical tools, testing equipment, and work areas are maintained in a safe, clean, and organized condition.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment.
- Provide technical guidance and oversight to assigned personnel to ensure work is completed safely and in compliance with established standards.
- Respond to electrical emergencies and service calls as required.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned that are consistent with the nature and level of the position.
Minimum RequirementsRequired Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience as an Electrician Helper or in a related electrical maintenance role.
- Basic knowledge of electrical distribution systems, wiring methods, and electrical maintenance practices.
- Familiarity with residual current devices, overcurrent protective devices, and electrical safety principles.
- Ability to safely use electrical hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and diagnostic instruments.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English preferred.
- Must be in possession of a valid passport and be able to travel internationally.
- Passport must be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring.
- Ability to obtain country-specific visas per the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide.
- Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain compliance throughout the duration of deployment.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
- Employees must read, speak, and comprehend English to the extent that they can perform the contract requirements and comply with installation emergency procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience working in an austere OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) environment with a multi-national workforce
- A valid driver’s license to legally operate a motor vehicle.
- Knowledge of the National Electrical Code or equivalent national electrical standards.
- Understanding alternating current theory, electrical motors, motor starters, transformers, and electrical control systems.
- Experience supporting commercial, industrial, military, or government facilities.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain improved grounds in compliance with contractual and operational standards.

Working Environment
This position is located on Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT), a remote overseas location supporting U.S. Government operations. Employees may work in office, industrial, warehouse, port, airfield, and outdoor environments and may be exposed to high temperatures, humidity, inclement weather, noise, dust, and uneven terrain. Work schedules may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on operational requirements.
Physical Requirements
Requirements may include prolonged sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, lifting up to 25 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally, and working in both indoor and outdoor environments. Must be able to meet all medical, security, and deployment requirements associated with assignment to a remote overseas location.
