We are looking for a structured and collaborative Occupational Hygienist Specialist to join our international HS&E team based in our European HQs in Amersfoort. Here, you will be dedicated to preventing occupational illnesses and injuries by ensuring that all work environments meet relevant regulatory, health, and safety standards.
You will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, and controlling workplace health hazards that may impact team member wellbeing across our European operations, including office, warehouse, and field-based environments. You will develop and implement occupational hygiene programs, ensure compliance with applicable regulations and standards, and provide expert guidance on workplace health risks such as chemical exposure, noise, vibration, biological agents, ergonomics, and respiratory protection. You will collaborate closely with Health & Safety colleagues, managers, Occupational Health providers, occupational physicians, and external specialists to continuously improve workplace health performance throughout the organization and foster a strong culture of prevention.
This role combines technical expertise, stakeholder engagement, and strategic program development. Success comes from building relationships, understanding local needs, and influencing change through collaboration and trust. To succeed, you bring strong interpersonal skills, the flexibility to adjust your communication to different stakeholders, the ability to work independently, and a structured and proactive approach. Our Health & Safety team is based at our European headquarters in Amersfoort (NL), reports to the Manager Health, Safety & Environmental and is part of our wider RA/QA department. Key Responsibilities
- Act as the Subject Matter Expert for occupational hygiene and workplace health risks within the Health and Safety team, collaborating with relevant departments and external specialists
- Actively identify and address potential sources of risk to Team Members’ wellbeing
- Support internal and external audits and inspections as required
- Develop and maintain occupational hygiene programs (e.g., respiratory protection, hearing conservation, chemical management)
- Review monitoring results against applicable occupational exposure limits and recommend practical controls
- Support the development of similar exposure groups and help identify where health surveillance may be needed
- Work with Occupational Health providers and occupational physicians to address workplace health risks and identify appropriate preventive measures
- Conduct exposure monitoring and sampling (e.g., air, noise, vibration, radiation, and biological agents) to determine team member exposure levels
- Assess the workplace to identify potential physical, chemical, biological, and ergonomic hazards
Requirements:
- University Degree in Occupational Hygiene, Environmental Health, Chemistry related field of study/HVK
- At least 3 years in a similar position
- Professional experience in an international environment
- Experience working with standards such as ISO13485, ISO14001, ISO 45001
- Familiarity or knowledge of applicable European/local regulations and standards
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
Nice – to – have:* A good understanding of Dutch is a strong advantage
- A professional certification (e.g., COH, ROH, AIOH, BOHS, or CIH) is an advantage
