The Department of Microbiology, Tumor and Cell Biology (MTC) at Karolinska Institutet conducts research and teaching within immunology, infection biology, cell biology and cancer. Our key words are multidisciplinary, bridging, national and international collaborations*.*
The McInerney laboratory focuses on the cell biology of virus infection, with a particular interest in alphaviruses, including chikungunya virus. We have a wide network of collaboration partners in virology, immunology, vaccinology, structural biology and biophysics, computational biology, and other fields of interest.

Your mission
As a Research/teaching assistant (amanuens) with us, you will support research activities, and your work will include, among other things, the following tasks:* Standard molecular biology, such as cloning, PCR, Gibson Assembly etc.
- mRNA synthesis by IVT (in vitro transcription).
- LNP (Lipid Nanoparticle) formulation using NanoSpark Assembler.
- Various other assays.
Your profile
Only persons admitted to higher education at a Swedish university or university college may be employed as a teaching and research assistant (amanuens).
Additional requirements for the position:
- Undergraduate degree in Biology, Medicine, or a related field.
- Experience in standard molecular biology, such as cloning (eg. by Gibson assembly), PCR, etc.
- Experience RNA synthesis by in vitro transcription and purification.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are required.
Meritorious:
Extensive practical experience and familiarity with the following techniques is desired:
- Mammalian cell culture techniques.
- Specific experience with antibody expression and purification is a plus.
