Description
The Faculty of Health, Science and Technology is recruiting a project assistant in Mathematics at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science.
The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science consists of two research subjects: Mathematics and Computer Science. It has a research and teaching staff of more than 70 people. The subject of Mathematics is responsible for mathematics education in many of the university's programs, primarily in engineering and teacher education. The mathematics department also provides professional development for teachers in primary and secondary education. Mathematics is one of the University's research areas and our research is conducted both in pure and applied mathematics as well as in mathematics education.

Duties
The main duties for the project assistant for this position is to work in a research project focusing on the intersection between mathematics and biology. The project is about identifying cancer dynamics and the work will focus on analysing and interpreting data, participate in writing scientific articles to present results of the study. In addition, the work will also be to contribute with knowledge to deepen the outcomes from the studies.

Qualifications
To be eligible for the position, applicants must hold a doctoral degree in mathematics and demonstrate extensive knowledge of topological data analysis (TDA).
To be eligible for employment you need to be covered by a labour market policy program.
Applicants must also have well-documented experience of scientific programming in MATLAB and/or Python.
Particular weight will be given to;
- personal suitability. We are looking for a candidate who is organised, self-motivated and able to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Good communication skills and the ability to contribute constructively to the research environment are also important.
- Excellent written and spoken English skills are also required.
Terms
The position are fixed-term for two months and full-time employment with the possibility of extension. Starting as soon as possible, according to agreement. A prerequisite for employment to take place is that you are covered by a labour market policy program.
