You will be based at our client on the west coast of Sweden. Our client is a European research and development organisation working on next-generation vehicle architectures, digital technologies, and intelligent systems. This is a longterm, full-time, on-site assignment.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Our client is looking for a Senior Designer for Components, Lighting & Exterior to support exterior experience design. You will create and mature exterior component and automotive lighting design proposals — with lighting as a key part of vehicle identity, technology expression and brand differentiation — from early ideation through detailed digital development and production-oriented execution.

Responsibilities:

• Create and develop high-quality exterior component and lighting design proposals for advanced and production vehicle programmes
• Develop front and rear lighting concepts, including DRL signatures, position lamps, rear lamp graphics and other illuminated exterior elements
• Create distinctive day and night identities that support the overall design language and vehicle character
• Develop exterior components including lighting assemblies, technology bands, grilles, decorative elements, trims and integrated exterior details
• Explore component architecture, graphics, proportion, depth, layering, transparency, materiality and perceived quality
• Translate early 2D concepts into convincing, accurately resolved 3D design solutions with CAS / Alias / Blender teams
• Collaborate with studio engineering, lighting engineering, digital modelling, suppliers and international project stakeholders
• Prepare clear visual and verbal design presentations for senior design management and project reviews

REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in automotive exterior design (required)
• Proven professional experience specifically related to automotive exterior components and/or automotive lighting design (required)
• Strong background in exterior design development within an automotive OEM, advanced design studio or recognised automotive design consultancy
• Proven ability to develop design proposals from early ideation through detailed 3D and production-oriented development
• Strong portfolio demonstrating high-level exterior component design capability and design maturity (required)
• Demonstrable understanding of automotive lighting design and its contribution to vehicle identity
• Ability to guide CAS, Alias, Blender and other digital-model development
• Excellent English communication skills
• Available on-site west coast of Sweden, longterm full-time (100%) (required)

PREFERRED

• Hands-on experience with Adobe Photoshop / Illustrator, Autodesk Alias, Blender, and/or VRED / KeyShot
• Experience developing production automotive lighting systems and working with lighting suppliers
• Experience with Chinese automotive OEMs or China–Europe vehicle-development programmes
• Experience developing advanced illuminated exterior elements beyond conventional headlamp and rear-lamp solutions
• Open to travel to China or supplier locations for workshops and design reviews when required
