We’re looking for an Assistant Manager / Shift Leader to join our management team. Someone who enjoys a busy pub environment, knows how to lead a team, and can confidently take charge of the operation during a busy evening.

The Role

You’ll be part of the management team at one of Amsterdam’s best English pubs, helping to keep the operation running smoothly and the team motivated.

This is a hands-on role. You’ll be on the floor, working alongside the team, making decisions, dealing with guests, and taking ownership of the shift. We’re looking for someone who is confident enough to run the pub independently during an evening and knows how to keep things under control when the place gets busy.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Leading and supporting the team during busy shifts
• Taking responsibility for the smooth running of the pub during your shift
• Coordinating the floor and bar to keep service flowing
• Supporting and motivating the team throughout the evening
• Making sure guests receive great service and dealing confidently with any issues
• Handling opening and closing procedures
• Keeping an eye on service standards, stock and general operations
• Supporting the training and development of team members
• Communicating with the wider management team and handing over important information
• Staying calm, organised and solution-focused during busy periods

What We’re Looking For

• Previous experience as a Shift Leader, Supervisor, Assistant Manager or Manager in a busy pub, bar, restaurant or similar hospitality environment
• Someone who is confident taking charge of a shift and leading a team
• Comfortable working in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
• Strong communication and people skills
• A hands-on leadership style; you’re not afraid to jump in and help the team
• Someone who can make decisions and take responsibility when things get busy
• Positive attitude and no ego, we work as a team
• Comfortable with late finishes and evening/weekend work
• Fluent English required
• Dutch is a plus
