Senior Analytics Engineer

Purpose: Senior Analytics Engineers design, build and manage Pandora's enterprise BI solutions. They combine deep technical skill with a code-first, automated way of working, lead delivery across stakeholders, and set the technical direction for BI in the organisation

Responsibilities

• Leads large Power BI projects with many stakeholders.
• Covers the full project lifecycle: scoping, requirements, design, development, testing, deployment and support after go-live.
• Writes detailed project plans, risk assessments and resource plans.
• Works with senior leadership and external stakeholders to agree project goals and timelines.
• Manages cross-functional teams and coordinates with Data Engineering, Data Governance and other departments.
• Runs project reviews and collects end-user feedback to keep improving Requirements

  • Expert in Power BI, Power Query, DAX and advanced dashboard design.
  • Designs complex data models, measures and custom visuals.
  • Deep knowledge of performance tuning, including handling large datasets and making reports load faster.
  • Advanced SQL, plus Python or R for extended analytics.
  • Expert in complex row-level security (RLS), dynamic parameters and advanced calculated measures.
  • Expert in third-party tools that boost Power BI productivity.

• Priority 2

  • Sets up and manages enterprise Power BI environments, covering security, governance and report lifecycle management.
  • Expert in code-centric BI development using PBIP, TMDL and JSON.
  • Advanced in source control, Git and DevOps (CI/CD).
  • Advanced in automation and scripting for BI development.
  • Strong focus on reusable templates, frameworks and accelerators.
  • Gives technical and strategic leadership on Power BI best practices, tool adoption and data strategy.
  • Mentors and trains junior and mid-level developers.
  • Leads design and architecture discussions for complex solutions.
  • Acts as the escalation point for technical problems and decisions.
  • Drives innovation and process improvements in the team and across the organisation.

• Priority 3

  • Advanced in agentic BI development: uses LLMs for analysis, building, refactoring and making changes at scale.
  • Knows BI solutions in Databricks, including AI/BI dashboards and Genie.

• Priority 4

  • Integrates many data sources: real-time data, APIs, cloud databases and big data.
