Product Management at Dalux – Turning Information into Attention
Construction projects generate an enormous amount of information. Files change. Tasks are assigned. Deadlines approach. Comments are added. Reviews require action. Issues are reported. People are mentioned. Workflows progress. But more information does not necessarily make people better informed.
Dalux is looking for a Product Manager to take dedicated ownership of Notifications and help us answer a deceptively difficult product question:
How do we make sure users know what requires their attention – without overwhelming them with information?
Notifications exist throughout our products today, across email, mobile, and in-product experiences. As Dalux has grown, so has their complexity. We believe this area deserves dedicated product ownership and a coherent strategy across our products.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Notification Strategy: Define a coherent product direction for how Dalux communicates important events and required actions to users.
- Product Discovery: Understand when users need to be informed, when they need to take action, and when a notification simply creates unnecessary noise.
- Customer Insights: Research how different users manage information and attention across complex projects and busy working days.
- Cross-product Ownership: Map and improve notification experiences across Dalux products rather than optimizing individual notifications in isolation.
- Channels & Preferences: Develop experiences spanning in-app notifications, email, mobile push, notification preferences, subscriptions, following, mentions, reminders, and digests.
- Relevance & Prioritization: Explore grouping, prioritization, timing, and deduplication to ensure important information stands out.
- Actionability: Make notifications useful by ensuring users understand why they received them, what has changed, and what action they should take.
- Product Analytics: Use quantitative and qualitative insights to understand which notifications create value and which create noise.
- Shared Capabilities: Work with Development and other Product Managers to create common notification principles and platform capabilities that can be reused across Dalux.
About you
You probably don't currently have "Notifications Product Manager" as your job title – and that's perfectly fine.
We're looking for an experienced Product Manager who finds the underlying problem interesting and has the product and systems thinking required to solve it.
We believe you:
- Have strong Product Management experience, preferably from B2B SaaS, collaboration, productivity, workflow, communication, or similar software.
- Have excellent product discovery and UX instincts.
- Think systematically and can turn many individual use cases into coherent product concepts.
- Understand the tension between keeping users informed and creating notification fatigue.
- Are comfortable owning a horizontal capability spanning multiple products and development teams.
- Can combine user research with product analytics to understand behavior.
- Care about interaction details and understand how seemingly small product decisions can have a large cumulative impact on user experience.
- Can simplify complex systems involving events, recipients, relevance, timing, preferences, and communication channels.
- Communicate fluently in English, written and spoken.
Construction technology experience is welcome but not required.
Experience from collaboration, communication, workflow, or productivity software would be particularly relevant.
