The President of EMEA at Equinix is a pivotal leader charged with steering the company's strategic direction and operational execution across the region. The Regional President develops a comprehensive plan to align region to company goals. They oversee business growth and ensure strategic alignment across departments. The role also drives organic and inorganic growth strategies, oversees integration of acquired businesses, and leads regional regulatory and public affairs engagements. Utilizes market knowledge, serving as an executive sponsor for key customers, championing a culture of inclusion and innovation, collaborating with product leadership, overseeing crisis management, and ensuring localized enablement of Equinix's operating system.
Key Responsibilities:
- Visionary leadership and strategic alignment: Develop a comprehensive plan, set a visionary path and define and align regional and country plans with Equinix's Product & Services goals. Is the key ambassador for coherence across region, linking regional activities with overarching company objectives.
- Regional leadership: Oversee Equinix’s business and growth across region, ensuring Product & Services, Customer & Revenue (Sales), and Operations strategic and operational alignment. Applies a structured approach to directly manage Managing Directors and the regional Corporate Development team, fostering synergies and driving performance.
- Growth and expansion: Direct initiatives for organic and inorganic growth and market entry strategies, including overseeing the integration of acquired businesses and enabling xScale. Drive investment in long-term market development, aligning with regional opportunities and global ambitions. Drive innovation in expansion strategies for region including new approaches to land acquisition, energy, etc.
- Government and regulatory affairs: Lead regional regulatory and public affairs engagements, ensuring favourable outcomes for the company's long-term security and growth. Specifically, build and maintain strong relationships with key government officials and industry stakeholders across the region. Advocate for policies and regulations that promote the growth and development of the data center industry. Proactively anticipate and address potential regulatory hurdles, ensuring the company operates with the highest level of compliance across diverse jurisdictions.
- Power and energy plan: Develop regional power/energy plan as tied to Operations strategy, including developing relationships with power/energy companies, consortiums. Develop yearly execution plan for power strategies in regions.
- Market expertise: Utilize market knowledge in cloud technology, sustainability, and software to drive Equinix's market position in region.
- Executive sponsorship and customer engagement: Serve as an executive sponsor for key regional customers, fostering long-term strategic relationships and ensuring customer satisfaction and growth. Lead by example in building partnerships and engaging with the business community to enhance Equinix's market presence.
- Culture and development: Champion a culture of inclusion and innovation across region, modelling Equinix's values and reinforcing a unified company ethos. Invest in developing the regional leadership team, ensuring cohesion, end-to-end alignment with strategic priorities and nurturing future leaders.
- Global, cross-functional collaboration: Collaborates with Product leadership team to bring strategy to life in region, facilitating growth, adoption, expansion and success of our products and services at a regional level. Provides feedback loop to Product organization and cross-functional teams on regional perspectives and nuances.
- Escalation and crisis management: Oversee escalation response and crisis management strategies, maintaining organizational and reputational resilience.
- Enterprise operating system enablement: Accountable for ensuring localized enablement of Equinix’s operating system (i.e., Rhythm of the business) and championing the single operating system.
Skills, experience and qualifications
- Demonstrate strategic leadership experience in the technology sector, with a strong ability to drive vision and operational excellence.
- Deep industry knowledge in cloud, technology, sustainability and software.
- Strategic foresight in driving business growth, with experience in mergers and acquisitions, market expansions, and customer engagement.
- Passion for engaging communities to develop long-term strategic relationships to bring new opportunities by building new data centers, technology hubs in the region.
- Ability to engage customers, build long-term strategic relations and sponsor unique partnerships.
- Proven ability to build followership across peers while fostering a collaborative and innovative working environment.
- Exceptional communication and influencing skills, with proven experience of executive speaking and representation of company vision. Demonstrates track record of influence with C-suite executives, public policy leaders, and industry influencers.
