Amentum is seeking a Fire Crew Chief to support a unique US Navy program on the island
of Diego Garcia. The Fire Crew Chief provides leadership, direction, and operational
oversight to fi refi ghting personnel responsible for protecting life, property, and mission
critical resources. The position leads fi re suppression, rescue, prevention, and emergency
response activities supporting structural fi res, aircraft emergencies, hazardous materials
incidents, and other fi re related operations.
Job Responsibilities:
- Serve as the lead crew member responsible for providing quality fi re protection,
emergency response, and resource protection support at assigned locations.
- Lead and supervise firefighting personnel during structural, aircraft, hazardous
materials, rescue, and emergency response operations.
- Perform and direct fire suppression, rescue, prevention, and emergency response
activities under the guidance of senior fire officers.
- Direct and control fireground operations, including fire attack, confi nement,
salvage, overhaul, ventilation, and rescue activities.
- Provide leadership during emergency incidents by evaluating conditions, identifying
risks, and selecting appropriate response strategies.
- Ensure assigned firefighters, emergency vehicles, fi refi ghting equipment, and
response systems are operational, inspected, and available for immediate
deployment.
- Assess emergency scenes, document initial conditions, and provide accurate
information to supervisors for incident reporting and operational decision making.
- Monitor crew performance and ensure personnel follow established firefi ghting
procedures, safety requirements, and operational standards.
- Provide first responder care and support emergency medical response activities as
required.
- Train, mentor, and provide guidance to assigned fi refi ghters to enhance operational
readiness and professional development. Participate in the inspection,
maintenance, and accountability of firefighting equipment, vehicles, facilities, and
station grounds.
- Address routine administrative and personnel matters and elevate issues to senior
leadership.
- Maintain accurate records, reports, inspections, and documentation as required.
- Support fi re prevention activities, safety initiatives, training exercises, and
emergency preparedness programs.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned that are consistent with the nature and
level of the position. Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of six (6) years of professional fi re service experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience leading fi refi ghting crews and emergency response
operations.
- Ability to eƯectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing, to
interpret regulations, explain procedures, conduct training, and prepare reports.
- Profi ciency with Microsoft OƯice applications and electronic reporting systems.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, including addition, subtraction,
multiplication, and division.
- Strong leadership, decision making, problem solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work eƯectively under stressful conditions and make timely decisions
during emergency operations.
- Ability to meet and maintain all contract medical, physical, deployment, and
credentialing requirements.
- Required Certifications:
o Firefi ghter I and II Certification (DoD, IFSAC, or National Pro Board)
o Fire OƯicer I Certification
o Fire Inspector I Certification
o Fire Instructor I Certification
o Hazardous Materials Operations Certifi cations
o Hazardous Materials Incident Commander Certifi cation
o Airport Firefighter Certification
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.
- Must be in possession of a valid passport and be able to travel internationally.
- Passport must be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring.
- Ability to obtain country-specifi c visas per the U.S. Department of State Foreign
Clearance Guide.
- Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain
compliance throughout the duration of deployment.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
- Must be able to speak, read, and comprehend English.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associates degree in Fire Science, Emergency Management, Public Administration,
or a related discipline.
- A valid driver’s license to legally operate a motor vehicle. .
- Previous experience supporting Department of Defense, military installations, or
government fire protection contracts.
- Experience working in remote or overseas environments.
- Experience leading Aircraft Resue and Fire Fighting operations.
- Experience supervising multicultural or multinational emergency response teams.
- Preferred Certifications:
o First Responder Certification
o Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification
o Additional emergency response, leadership, or specialty certifi cations as
required by contract or assignment

Working Environment
This position is located on Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT), a remote
overseas location supporting U.S. Government operations. Employees may work in oƯice,
industrial, warehouse, port, airfi eld, and outdoor environments and may be exposed to
high temperatures, humidity, inclement weather, noise, dust, and uneven terrain. Work
schedules may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on
operational requirements.
Physical Requirements
Requirements may include prolonged sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, lifting up
to 25 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally, and working in both indoor and
outdoor environments. Must be able to meet all medical, security, and deployment
requirements associated with assignment to a remote overseas location.
