VOSTA LMG is an internationally active supplier of dredging equipment, components, automation systems and engineering services for the worldwide dredging industry.
From our offices in Europe and Asia, we support customers with components and spare parts, dredging systems, automation, engineering and technical services for newbuild and existing dredgers.
For our office in Lübeck, Germany, we are looking for an experienced Automation Engineer / SCADA Specialist to strengthen our automation activities and support international projects and customers.
In this role, you will work on automation and control systems for dredging applications. The position combines engineering, programming, commissioning, troubleshooting and technical project support.
Main responsibilities
- Development and enhancement of VOSTA LMG’s SCADA/HMI software for dredging applications
- Preparation and revision of functional descriptions, I/O lists and other documentation for dredge control systems
- PLC and SCADA programming
- Commissioning and service of dredge control systems and instrumentation
- Troubleshooting and technical support for automation systems
- Coordination and supervision of contract partners and sub-suppliers during installation and commissioning
- Design activities for dredge control systems and related electrical systems
- Remote technical support for customers and ongoing projects
- International travel for commissioning, service and project activities
Candidate profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering or similar
- Minimum 5 years of relevant automation experience
- Good written and spoken English
- German language skills are advantageous
- Able to work independently
- Good coordination and communication skills
- Practical and hands-on mentality
- Interested in the development of new technologies
- Willingness to travel internationally
Technical experience
We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in:
- SCADA programming, preferably Siemens WinCC
- PLC programming, preferably Siemens TIA Portal and Step 7
- High-level language programming such as C, C#, VB and SQL
- Installation and commissioning of automation systems in heavy industry
- Industrial networks and communication systems
- Troubleshooting of PLC, HMI, instrumentation and control systems
Advantageous experience
The following experience would be an advantage:
- Marine, shipbuilding, offshore or dredging applications
- Knowledge of ship electrical and control system design
- Hydraulic control systems
- Instrumentation and sensors
- AutoCAD and/or 3D design
- Coordination of subcontractors and suppliers during installation and commissioning
Education and experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering or similar – Required
- Relevant automation experience: 5 years – Required
- SCADA programming / WinCC: 3 years – Preferred
- PLC programming / TIA Portal / Step 7: 3 years – Preferred
- High-level language programming: 3 years – Preferred
- AutoCAD / 3D experience – Preferred
