Your role
Key responsibilities in your new role
- Scope: Apply state-of-the-art Infineon microphones for speech recognition with either a humanoid or a quadruped robot in robotics applications
- Audio Processing: Develop and characterize next-generation audio technologies with experts at a global semiconductor company and a leading Micro‑Electro‑Mechanical Systems (MEMS) microphone supplier
- Software: Implement code to analyze sensor measurements, make decisions, and control the robot accordingly
- Testing: Validate algorithms on real hardware, analyze and report data, and periodically present findings to colleagues
- Research: Explore novel sensing concepts, machine learning algorithms, data processing and visualization using Python and MATLAB
- Collaboration: Work between Infineon Villach and the Institute of Smart System Technologies at the University of Klagenfurt with academic supervision jointly with the University of Klagenfurt or, subject to approval, in cooperation with another university
Thesis Option: Start as an internship with potential extension to a master thesis

Type of employment: Temporary / Part-time or Full-time (flexible working hours from Monday to Friday between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m.)

Your profile
Qualifications and skills to help you succeed
- Education: Motivated and committed master student (f/m/div) in Robotics, Electronics or Electrical Engineering with a focus on Audio Engineering, Sensor Signal Processing or similar
- Technical Knowledge: Background in acoustics, signal processing and machine learning
- Programming: Proficient in C, C plus plus (C/C++), Python or MATLAB required
- Frameworks: Familiarity with Robot Operating System 2 (ROS2) preferred
- Language Skills: Very good English skills

This position is subject to the collective agreement for workers and employees in the electrical and electronics industry (full-time), employment group D for master students (https://www.feei.at/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/minimum-salaries-white-collar-workers-2026-05-01.pdf).
