Role
Northern Trust Asset Management (NTAM) is a trillion-dollar global investment manager dedicated to helping clients achieve their long-term investment objectives.
This role is responsible for delivering performance measurement, attribution analysis, and investment analytics to support investment decision-making and client reporting. The successful candidate will partner closely with portfolio managers and stakeholders to provide insightful analysis, enhance reporting capabilities, and drive digital and data-led transformation initiatives across the function through automation and scalable solutions.
Major Duties
- Provide performance measurement and attribution analysis services for a range of investment strategies, with a particular focus on quantitative and active investment products.
- Analyse and deconstruct portfolio returns using Brinson-Fachler and factor-based attribution methodologies, including style, sector, and security selection analysis.
- Partner closely with portfolio management teams to validate attribution outputs and ensure reporting accuracy.
- Act as a subject matter expert in the development and enhancement of performance measurement, performance evaluation, and asset allocation reporting capabilities.
- Investigate data, reporting, and process issues, identifying root causes and implementing sustainable solutions.
- Support digital and data transformation initiatives across EMEA, including the design and implementation of scalable analytics and reporting solutions.
- Contribute to the strategic development of the performance measurement, reporting, and investment analytics function, identifying opportunities for automation, efficiency, and scalability.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Finance, Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Engineering, or another quantitative discipline.
- Minimum 7 years' experience in financial services, with direct experience in performance measurement, performance attribution, investment analytics, or risk analytics within the asset management industry.
- Strong understanding of quantitative and active investment strategies, factor-based attribution methodologies, and portfolio risk and asset allocation concepts.
- Experience using investment analytics platforms such as BlackRock Aladdin, FactSet, or similar tools.
- Ability to analyse and interpret large datasets and translate findings into meaningful business and investment insights.
- Experience with data visualisation and analytics tools such as Microsoft Power BI, QlikView, or similar platforms.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate complex analytical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience developing scalable reporting solutions, data pipelines, or analytical tools using Python, R, SQL, or similar technologies.
- Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across investment, risk, technology, and operations teams.
- Proactive and continuous improvement mindset, with a focus on automation, efficiency, and innovation.
