Role description Network Engineer

Location: Wuppertal, Germany (Hybrid/Onsite)

Employment Type: Fixed-Term Employment Contract

UST is seeking an experienced Network Engineer to support a major site transition and network integration project in Wuppertal, Germany. This is a hands-on technical role requiring strong expertise across enterprise networking, SD-WAN, firewalls, wireless technologies, and infrastructure migrations.

The successful candidate will play a key role in designing, implementing, troubleshooting, and optimizing network infrastructure while supporting site migration, stabilization, and ongoing operations.

The Role:

• Design, configure, and deploy enterprise network infrastructure.
• Support Cisco LAN switching, routing, and wireless environments.
• Configure and troubleshoot Aruba EdgeConnect (Silver Peak) SD-WAN solutions.
• Support Fortinet FortiGate firewall configurations and connectivity.
• Perform network installations, testing, validation, and troubleshooting.
• Coordinate infrastructure migrations, cutovers, and post-implementation stabilization.
• Troubleshoot LAN, WAN, wireless, firewall, DNS/DHCP, and application connectivity issues.
• Validate network performance, resiliency, and high-availability configurations.
• Collaborate with global engineering teams, vendors, carriers, and local site stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate network documentation, diagrams, and configuration records.
• Ensure compliance with network security, governance, and change management standards.
• Provide knowledge transfer and operational support throughout the transition period.

What you will bring:

• Strong hands-on experience in enterprise network engineering and support.
• Cisco switching, routing, and wireless technologies.
• Networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, VLANs, STP, trunking, routing protocols, and segmentation.
• Aruba EdgeConnect / Silver Peak SD-WAN administration and troubleshooting.
• Fortinet FortiGate firewall configuration and support.
• Enterprise WAN and Internet connectivity management.
• Network migration, integration, and infrastructure deployment experience.
• Network monitoring, diagnostics, performance analysis, and troubleshooting.
• Experience producing and maintaining technical network documentation.
• Ability to work independently and manage on-site technical activities.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Professional working proficiency in German.
• Experience supporting large-scale site transition or integration projects.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
