This position will develop and execute sourcing and category management strategies for critical, high-value and technically complex goods and services required for original equipment manufacturing operations. Working across a global supply base, the role will lead strategic sourcing initiatives, supplier negotiations and commercial agreements to optimize total cost, quality, delivery, working capital and continuity of supply.
The ideal candidate will have a strong track record in strategic sourcing and procurement within OEM manufacturing, contract manufacturing or Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS) environments, together with proven experience managing complex global supply chains and leading multi-million-dollar commercial negotiations. Key responsibilities include:
- Manage the end-to-end procurement process for the assigned categories and purchasing groups including supplier onboarding, RFx, commercial negotiations, drafting purchase orders and obtaining order acknowledgements.
- Develop and execute category and sourcing strategies aligned with business requirements, including total cost of ownership, supplier capability, market conditions, supply risk and business continuity considerations.
- Lead strategic sourcing and supplier selection activities, including RFQs/RFPs, competitive bidding, supplier evaluations, commercial analysis and award recommendations.
- Lead complex commercial negotiations to achieve cost reductions, improved payment terms, lead-time reductions, capacity commitments and other commercial improvements while protecting quality and continuity of supply.
- Develop cost models and conduct should-cost / price benchmarking analysis to assess supplier quotations, identify cost drivers and support fact-based negotiations.
- Develop and maintain strategic supplier relationships with key suppliers, driving long-term performance, collaboration and risk mitigation initiatives.
- Proactively identify and mitigate supply-chain risks associated with critical components, sole/limited-source suppliers, long lead-time items, geopolitical exposure, capacity constraints and obsolescence.
- Develop supplier risk and business continuity strategies, including alternate sources, dual sourcing, supplier capacity planning and appropriate inventory strategies for critical components.
- Monitor supplier performance against agreed KPIs for quality, delivery, cost, responsiveness and service, and lead corrective actions and performance improvement initiatives where required.
- Work closely with Quality, Engineering and Operations on supplier qualification, first article / production approval, non-conformances, engineering changes and supplier process improvements.
- Support new product introduction (NPI) and engineering development activities by providing supplier, cost, lead-time, manufacturability and sourcing input from concept through production.
- Identify and implement procurement-driven cost reduction and value-engineering opportunities, working collaboratively with Engineering and suppliers to optimize product cost without compromising performance or quality.
- Manage supplier contracts and commercial obligations, ensuring appropriate terms, pricing, warranties, liability, intellectual property, confidentiality, termination and service-level provisions are in place.
- Ensure compliance with applicable trade, customs, sanctions, export-control and import regulations, particularly where procurement involves international suppliers and controlled or dual-use components.
- Maintain accurate procurement data, supplier records, contracts and purchasing information within the ERP/procurement system, ensuring data integrity and effective spend visibility.
- Prepare and communicate procurement KPIs and management reporting, including spend, savings, supplier performance, purchase price variance, working capital, lead times and supply risk.
- Support continuous improvement and standardization of procurement processes, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce transaction costs and strengthen governance.
