Meta is seeking a Data Center Capacity Engineer to help ensure our global data center infrastructure can meet the demands of billions of users across Meta's family of apps and services. In this role, you will analyze server fleet utilization, model capacity demand, and partner with infrastructure, supply chain, and site operations teams to plan and deliver compute, storage, and network resources at scale. You will translate complex capacity signals into actionable deployment plans that keep Meta's data centers running efficiently and reliably.
Data Center Capacity Engineer Responsibilities:
- Fulfill capacity models that forecast compute, storage, and network demand across Meta's global data center fleet
- Analyze rack placement and delivery trends, and recommend corrective deployment actions
- Partner with supply chain, procurement, and site operations teams to align hardware delivery schedules with capacity timelines
- Translate capacity demands into rack-level deployment plans, coordinating with data center operations teams to execute against build-out milestones
- Build and refine data pipelines and dashboards to provide real-time visibility into fleet capacity delivery across global regions
- Identify systemic inefficiencies in capacity allocation and design process improvements to increase infrastructure utilization and reduce waste
- Collaborate with infrastructure engineering and product teams to incorporate new hardware generations and evolving workload requirements into capacity
- Communicate capacity risks, tradeoffs, and recommendations to engineering leaders and cross-functional stakeholders through written analyses and structured reviews
- Contribute to team-level capacity delivery methodology, tooling standards, and goal-setting to improve operational efficiency
- Leverage AI-assisted analysis and workflow automation to accelerate capacity modeling, anomaly detection, and reporting at scale
Minimum Qualifications:
- 6+ years of experience in data center capacity planning, infrastructure operations, or site production engineering
- Experience delivering capacity models and demand forecasts for large-scale compute, storage, or network infrastructure
- Familiarity with server hardware lifecycle management, rack-level power and cooling constraints, and data center physical infrastructure planning
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with capacity planning for hyperscale or cloud data center environments spanning multiple geographic regions
- Experience building or improving capacity planning tooling, simulation models, or forecasting frameworks used across engineering organizations
- Experience working with data analysis tools and scripting languages (such as Python, SQL, or equivalent) to build capacity reporting pipelines and automate workflows
- Track record of identifying and driving infrastructure efficiency improvements that measurably reduced cost or improved utilization at fleet scale
