Industrial design engineer / mechanical engineer

Introduction

At Locsense we develop hardware to measure the impedance of cell cultures through Electrical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS). Our customers are interested in the properties of the cell cultures over time as well as during occurrences of specific events like adding certain compounds to the cells.

Job description

As a Industrial design engineer, you will play a prime role in designing and implementing all mechanical aspects of our innovative laboratory instruments. You will work closely with end users, hardware developers and software engineers to design and deliver components for our measurement devices. In addition, you will help to find innovative solutions to mechanical issues and questions our users run into. Key responsibilities include:

• Design and implement mechanical parts for our laboratory instruments
• Support customers with mechanical questions and issues
• Collaborate with internal teams to translate customer needs into practical solutions
• Provide technical input during product demonstrations and evaluations
• Provide internal support by prototyping different solutions
• Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends

Profile

You feel right at home with designing and prototyping different mechanical solutions to problems. You are enthusiastic and take initiative. You also fit the following profile:

• A Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design Engineering or work experience in a related field
• Experience with designing mechanical prototypes and related technologies, for instance 3D printing
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• An energetic, positive, and open-minded attitude
• Interest in new technologies and innovative laboratory solutions
• Willingness to learn and grow within a fast-paced environment
