Team Purpose
The Circular Excellence team works to strengthen the performance, quality, and efficiency of our circular solutions by connecting technical expertise, operational excellence, and regulatory compliance across the full value chain.
The team acts as a centre of excellence, supporting Production, R&D, Supply Chain, Maintenance, Purchasing, and other functions to ensure robust processes, consistent materials, strong quality standards, and clear sustainability objectives.
Your Role
As Product Excellence, you will act as a strategic driver of our quality and process landscape, rather than simply acting as the guardian of quality standards.
Drawing on your plastics expertise, hands-on experience with extrusion equipment, and strong knowledge of polymer processing, you will optimise processes, increase efficiency, and secure quality across the entire value chain—from raw material to finished product, with a strong focus on food-contact applications using virgin and recycled PET.
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone with a strong technical foundation in plastics engineering, process engineering, chemical engineering, materials science, or a comparable technical field, combined with relevant experience in quality management within industrial environments, ideally in plastics, packaging, recycling, or process industries.
Hands-on experience with extrusion equipment and polymer processing—both virgin and recycled—is essential, together with knowledge of quality management systems, statistical analysis, continuous improvement methodologies, and food-contact regulatory requirements.
We value a strategic mindset, strong analytical capabilities, a solution-oriented approach, a high sense of ownership, and the ability to influence and collaborate across functions in an international and dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Strategy & Management Systems
- Develop and implement a long-term quality strategy for the PET packaging and recycling portfolio.
- Design, implement, and continuously improve quality management systems, including ISO 9001, FSSC 22000, and relevant industry-specific standards.
- Define and maintain quality policies, procedures, and documentation in line with corporate, customer, and regulatory requirements.
- Establish, monitor, and report key quality KPIs—such as scrap rate, complaints, and right-first-time—and drive corrective and preventive actions.
Process Optimisation & Technical Excellence
- Analyse and optimise production processes, with a strong focus on extrusion and polymer processing using virgin and recycled materials.
- Identify process bottlenecks and inefficiencies and implement improvement measures using methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, and SPC.
- Support the scale-up of new materials, formulations, and products from pilot stage to industrial production.
- Define and maintain stable process windows, control plans, and quality parameters to ensure robust operations.
Cross-functional Collaboration, Audits & Compliance
- Work closely with Production, R&D, Supply Chain, Maintenance, and Purchasing to ensure material quality, process stability, and sustainability targets.
- Collaborate with suppliers to define quality requirements, manage specifications, and support supplier development and qualification.
- Plan and lead internal and external audits—including ISO, FSSC, and customer audits—and ensure timely implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legal, regulatory, food-contact, and safety requirements, including HACCP and risk analyses.
Data Analysis, Training & Continuous Improvement
- Use data analysis, statistical tools, and root cause analysis methods to prevent defects and optimise processes.
- Prepare regular reports on quality and process performance for management, including recommendations for strategic and operational decisions.
- Conduct training sessions and workshops to strengthen quality awareness and process understanding at all levels.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and structured problem-solving, fostering ownership of quality on the shop floor.
Experience & Qualifications
A degree in Plastics Engineering, Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a comparable technical field is required, together with several years of professional experience in quality management, ideally within the plastics, packaging, recycling, or process industry.
Strong hands-on experience with extrusion equipment and polymer processing for food-contact applications is essential. The role also requires solid knowledge of ISO 9001, FSSC 22000, SPC, MSA, capability analyses, 8D, Ishikawa, FMEA, Lean, Kaizen, or Six Sigma. Experience in recycling, resin suppliers, food-contact regulations, EU Regulation 10/2011, EC 2022/1616, EFSA technical dossiers for rPET processes, and traceable Declarations of Compliance will be highly valued.
Success in This Role
Within the first 6-12 months, success in this role will be measured by your ability to:
- Define a clear roadmap for the PET and rPET quality strategy, aligned with the objectives of Circular Excellence.
- Improve the stability of critical processes, particularly extrusion and polymer processing, reducing variability, scrap, and rework.
- Establish reliable quality and process KPIs, supported by regular reporting and data-driven corrective actions.
- Ensure regulatory compliance and strong readiness for audits, certifications, and customer requirements.
- Strengthen the culture of quality and continuous improvement on the shop floor, promoting ownership, cross-functional collaboration, and structured problem-solving.
