We are looking for an experienced, end-user-focused Senior Technical Writer to join our global Training & Documentation team at Jeppesen ForeFlight in Gothenburg. In this role, you will champion the end-user experience by creating and maintaining clear, accurate, customer-facing, and internal documentation for our mission-critical crew management software used across the global aviation industry.
Working closely with developers, product managers, user experience (UX) teams, and subject matter experts, you will turn complex technical workflows into intuitive, high-value guidance for our end users. You will also play a key hands-on role in modernizing our content operations.
This role is ideal for an experienced writer with a strong aptitude for learning emerging AI technologies—proactively exploring, testing, and applying modern tools to accelerate content development, streamline delivery, and directly elevate the overall end-user experience without compromising technical accuracy or documentation quality.
Key Responsibilities:
-
End-User-Centric Authoring: Create, curate, and maintain intuitive customer- and internal-facing documentation (user guides, release notes, process flows) designed around end-user workflows and goals.
-
AI Tool Integration & Innovation: Actively evaluate and apply AI technologies to optimize drafting, enforce terminology consistency, improve searchability, and enhance how end users consume information.
-
Content Migration & Architecture: Analyze legacy content to determine its suitability, support structured migrations to topic-based DITA XML and inform and implement reuse and metadata strategies.
-
Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate with UX, product management, engineering, and aviation SMEs to ensure documentation directly reflects end-user needs and software usability.
-
Structured Information Design: Author and organize modular DITA content, and work with engineers creating content to support effective single-sourcing and multi-channel delivery.
-
Workflow & Standards Modernization: Continually improve documentation to meet end-user needs, for AI readiness, and delivery mechanisms to maximize quality and end-user satisfaction.
-
End-User Advocacy & Mentorship: Advocate relentlessly for the end user across all documentation touchpoints while sharing structured authoring and AI best practices with the broader writing team.
-
Collaborate with the global documentation team to improve quality: Work with your teammates around the world to improve the quality of crew documentation, and the other documentation supported by the team.
This position is on a hybrid schedule. This means you will be required to perform some work onsite at the company’s Gdansk, Poland office. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.
Required Qualifications:
-
5+ years of technical writing experience creating end-user-centered documentation for complex enterprise software.
-
Strong DITA XML expertise and CCMS experience, including topic-based authoring, content modeling, conditional profiling, and content reuse strategies.
-
Hands-on experience with modern authoring and publishing tools, including Oxygen XML Author/Editor, Adobe FrameMaker, WebWorks Publisher and Adobe Creative Suite.
-
Strong aptitude with AI tools (such as Claude, ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, GitHub Copilot) to support research, content creation, organization, editing, and documentation workflows.
-
Experience analyzing legacy content and participating in structured content migrations to DITA XML.
-
Experience working in an Agile software development environment.
-
Familiarity with user-centered content design or information architecture principles.
-
Proven track record collaborating with UX designers, software engineers, and product managers.
-
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
-
Strong record of collaboration with a global team, with the goal of communicating best practices to ensure the team’s shared success.
-
Developer & project tooling: Familiarity with Git/GitHub/GitLab, Jira, Azure DevOps and Confluence
Preferred Qualifications:
