Project Assistent in the department of Translational Oncogenomics

Description of the workplace

The Translational Oncogenomics research group is seeking a Master’s-level Project Assistant with experience in breast cancer research and bioinformatics skills to contribute to research projects within the field. The position is based at the Department of Clinical Sciences Lund, Division of Oncology, located at Medicon Village. The working environment is international and interdisciplinary, with a focus on cancer biology, genetics, genomics, oncology, and bioinformatics. The group consists of researchers, PhD students, and bioinformaticians, and you will work closely with experienced colleagues in a dynamic research setting. We are now recruiting a full-time Project Assistant (100%) for the period 2026-10-01 to 2027-03-31.

Duties and responsibilities

The position is full-time and work is primarily carried out on-site. Supervision meetings will be held every one to two weeks to provide guidance and support. Responsibilities include conducting cancer research and bioinformatics analyses, handling biological samples, analysing data, compiling research results, reviewing scientific literature, preparing figures, and contributing to scientific writing. Other duties may be assigned within the scope of the role.

Qualifications

Requirements for the position are:

• Master’s degree in Molecular Biology or a related field
• Excellent proficiency in English, both spoken and written
• Experience in breast cancer research and blood plasma processing
• Experience in bioinformatics analysis of clinical and genomic data
• Experience working with RStudio and software packages such as ggplot2, survival, and GenVisR

Meritorious:

• Knowledge of scientific writing and reference management using EndNote
• Experience in figure generation using BioRender
• Knowledge of code and results organization using Quarto

The employment is a fixed-term special appointment (SÄVA) at 100% for the period of 2026.10.01 - 2027.03.31.
