Commissioning Instrumentation Supervisor

We are currently looking for a Commissioning Instrumentation Supervisor in the framework of the pre-commissioning and commissioning of a large-scale hydrogen production facility in the Netherlands.
The assignment consists in leading all instrumentation-related pre-commissioning and commissioning activities on site, including instrument calibration, actuator testing, loop checks and support to the commissioning of associated equipment.
The position is site-based in the Netherlands, with occasional short business trips within Europe.
On a daily basis, the Commissioning Instrumentation Specialist will report directly to the Commissioning Manager and work closely with the DCS, E&I, process and site commissioning teams.
The main duties are the following:
- Lead all instrumentation-related pre-commissioning and commissioning activities on site.
- Perform and supervise the calibration of field instrumentation, including pressure, temperature and other process instruments.
- Perform the initialization, testing and calibration of actuators and control valves.
- Execute and coordinate loop checks between field instrumentation, control systems and associated equipment.
- Support the pre-commissioning and commissioning of rotating equipment from an instrumentation and control perspective.
- Verify instrument installation and configuration against approved project documentation and technical specifications.
- Identify discrepancies during testing and coordinate the implementation of corrective actions with the relevant engineering and site teams.
- Read and interpret E&I documentation, including logic diagrams, wiring diagrams, loop diagrams and instrumentation hook-ups.
- Read and interpret relevant process and piping documentation, including P&IDs, isometrics and associated technical documents.
- Support pre-commissioning activities such as P&ID checks, blowing, flushing and inerting when instrumentation interfaces are involved.
- Coordinate closely with the DCS team during loop testing, functional checks and control system integration.
- Support the commissioning of electrical shelters and associated E&I equipment when required.
- Ensure that all instrumentation checks and commissioning activities are performed in accordance with approved procedures, project requirements and applicable quality standards.
- Complete and maintain all quality and commissioning documentation related to on-site instrumentation checks and tests.
- Monitor progress of instrumentation activities and provide clear reporting on completed works, outstanding issues and required actions.
- Contribute to the planning and coordination of commissioning activities.
- Work autonomously while maintaining effective cooperation with the wider site and commissioning teams.
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of proven hands-on experience in electrical commissioning within complex industrial power systems.
- Expert-level experience in commissioning of HV and MV systems.
- Strong experience in the commissioning of HV GIS switchgear, MV switchgear, power transformers, protection systems and distribution networks.
- Good experience with power conversion systems, rectifiers, reactive power compensation and harmonic filtering.
- Proven experience in electrical pre-commissioning, energization and functional testing.
- Good knowledge of grid connection requirements, protection systems and relay coordination.
- Experience in commissioning of electrical shelters and electrical equipment.
- Good knowledge of E&I documentation, including logic diagrams, wiring diagrams, loop diagrams and instrumentation hook-ups.
- Ability to read and interpret relevant process and piping documentation would be an advantage.
- Experience in commissioning management, contractor supervision and field coordination.
- Strong autonomy, leadership, teamwork and reporting skills.
- Good command of standard digital and office tools.
- Fluent English is mandatory.
- Availability for a full-time, site-based assignment in the Netherlands.
- The candidate must hold or be able to obtain the required site safety and electrical authorisations applicable to the assignment.

- Experience in the commissioning of electrical shelters and associated electrical equipment would be an advantage.
- Strong autonomy, teamwork, leadership and reporting skills.
- Good command of standard digital and office tools.
- Fluent English is mandatory.
- Availability for a full-time, site-based assignment in the Netherlands.
- The candidate must hold or be able to obtain the required site safety and electrical certifications applicable to the assignment, including VCA certification where required.
- The mission is expected to start in late October 2026 and to continue for more than 6 months.
