Chartering Manager
Dampskibsselskabet NORDEN A/S · Hellerup, Denmark
You apply off-site, with the employer or the job board. I never handle applications.
Are you curious to look beyond today's market? To ask why trade flows change. Why freight rates move. And where the next opportunity might come from.
In NORDEN's Capesize team, curiosity is not just encouraged. It is part of how we work. Together, we navigate one of the largest and most dynamic segments in dry bulk shipping, combining market insight, commercial thinking and strong relationships to create value every day.
As we continue to grow our Capesize business, we are looking for someone who wants to grow with it. Someone who is excited by responsibility, enjoys working closely with talented colleagues and is motivated by making an impact in a truly global market.
Why this role?
In Capesize, fewer but larger transactions mean individual decisions can have a real commercial impact. You will build relationships with key customers and trading partners, navigate changing trade flows and be part of a segment that sits at the centre of global commodity trade.
As our new Chartering Manager, you will optimise vessel employment, build customer partnerships and turn market opportunities into results. Together with experienced colleagues and supported by in-house risk management and market research teams, you will help the continued growth of our Capesize business.
What you will be doing
You will have the opportunity to:
- Manage and optimise vessel employment in a dynamic global market.
- Build long-term relationships with customers, brokers and key industry stakeholders.
- Create commercial value through cargo bookings, trading opportunities and tonnage procurement.
- Spot opportunities across our business and connecting customers with the right solutions.
- Collaborate with Operations to ensure effective execution and a great customer experience.
- Help grow our Capesize business and expand our presence in key trades.
You will also have the opportunity to travel internationally and build relationships with customers and partners across the global shipping industry.
What you will bring
You combine commercial awareness with a collaborative approach, finding motivation in creating value, uncovering opportunities and keeping pace with market changes.
This role calls for at least two years of experience in Dry Cargo Chartering, including experience with:
- Trading and optimising earnings on tonnage and cargoes.
- Managing commercial exposure.
- Building and maintaining customer and broker relationships.
- Basic understanding of hedging and FFAs.
Application
Please upload your motivation letter, resume and relevant diplomas via our website as soon as possible and no later than 14 September 2026. Your motivation letter helps us understand what drives you, why you are interested in the role, and how your skills and experiences could contribute to the team. We are especially interested in your motivation and transferable skills, not a recap of your CV. It is your opportunity to tell us the story behind your application.
We review and interview candidates on an ongoing basis.
We will do our best to get back to you at least within ten working days after the application deadline, 14 September 2026.
In NORDEN we value a range of perspectives, educational backgrounds and professional experience and encourages all qualified candidates to apply.
